"Ah yes a sugar scrub." Avalon remarked as criston cleaned the sword. He hesitated. "Always helps remove the blood I hear... but it cant wash aegons blood from your hands."

"Avalon-"

"Aemond is doing well right? He is... leading as protector... he's... I'm prejudice, being his mother what do you think? He commanded the small council."

"Are you mad at your counter part?" Criston questioned moving to her.

"Mad at Alicent?" Avalon countered confused. "Why?"

"For how she spoke to Aemond and about aemond?"

"She just doesn't like feeling powerless." Avalon countered.  "Will you see to Aemond's commands?"

"I am his hand and commander." Criston agreed.

"I'm glad you two get along, you do right?"

"We do." Criston agreed. "We are... like minded in certain ways."

"Good..." Avalon whispered.  "What happened at Rooks rest?" Criston hesitated moving closer to her. "What? What did you see?"

"Their armor melted. There were men walking. They were on fire. We have given the war to the dragons. A dragonrider should lead us." Criston decided.

"I'm a dragonrider, or have you lot forgotten?"

"So im engaged to cregan..." vaera said softly. "I know we are all worried about aegon but im really happy and hes raining on my sunshine!"

"You what?" Aemond demanded

"Oh you are engaged to whats her name-"

"Cregan stark?" Aemond questioned

"No thats who I'm engaged to who were you-"

"Vaera!" Aemond demanded.

"You know I love him. I have for forever". Vaera agreed. "Possibly from the first moment I met him." Vaera agreed.

"Gods." Aemond groaned.

"I know and now aegon is dying and everyone is focused on him. What the hell?" Vaera whined.

"Compassion vaera!" Alyssa declared.

"I'm having compassion towards myself and my needs." Vaera agreed. "Come on, this is good! Aemond is king like he should have been all along and... well... we should be celebrating me!" she begged.

"I can't believe them." Alicent demanded.

"I can." Avalon countered.

"Avalon!"

"Alicent, I love you." Avalon declared. "So much but they are right. The people choose Aegon, bent easily and broke vows because they didnt want a woman in charge. It didnt matter that we ran viserys council for years, because it was still Viserys name front and center, we were just pretty extras."

"We were more than that-"

"Not to everyone, not to the realms, we were his queens. Not the powerholders."

"The lights have burnt out, the flowers are dead. Somehow I'm still 'supposed to sleep in this bed." Alicent whispered.

"What?" Avalon questioned.

"Love is like a house of fragile things." Alicent remarked. "Where hearts can be broken as easy as antiques and now there's glass all shattered at my feet. Are you telling me that what we built together, viserys left in smithereens when he died?"

"I suppose." Avalon admitted softly. "You know the way of this world. You know it better than most." Avalon grabbed her hand. "We can paint all the walls, a fresh coat but we will never be able to cover the memory of him and the legacy we can't follow. Because the people won't let us."

Aemond stood staring at the throne when Helaena found him.

"Was it worth the price?" she questioned. Aemond didn't answer just stared back at her.

Yes it was.

"Come, lets see Vaera, I know she has news and-"

"I have to see Aegon."

"I will join you." Avalon agreed.

"I will catch up with you and the children." Alicent countered. "I... I have to see him alone."

"Okay." Alicent pressed a kiss to Avalon's cheek before heading off. Avalon sighed standing there a moment longer.

Aegon lay with a labored breath, Alicent at his side, she had never been gentle with him, never been too kind and now she was going to lose him.

"Mummy." Aegon whispered as Alicent headed off.

"Engaged?" Avalon declared holding close to vaera.

"Yep, yay me!" Vaera agreed. "God he is so perfect! I love him, and Jace totally fucked up with the north, Sara Snow, bitchy bastard," Vaera added.

"Vaera." Avalon scolded.

"Bastards breeding with bastards." Aemond chuckled.

"You two!" Avalon demanded.

"Anyways, Cregan said the north is ours and if Jace steps in winterfell again he's going to set his wolves off at him." Vaera added. "Tainting his little sister..." She tsked.

"Do I need to set Vhagar off on Stark?" Aemond questioned. "Tainting my baby sister?"

"What?" Vaera demanded. "I'm a lady." She tossed her hair over her shoulder. "And dont talk like that in front of mother."

"I'm happy for you Vaera, so he proposed? Thats why you refused to come back." Avalon offered.

"Yeah." She agreed blushing. "I couldnt leave, I just wanted to keep kissing him." She declared spinning around arms out wide.

"Just kissing right?" Aemond demanded.

"Dont be such a fuddy duddy, I'm engaged."
