— GIA sat in class, twirling her hair with her fingers as boredom consumed her."for the rest of the week, you'll be moving seats to be seated with your partner. the two of you will be working on your project, starting to plan information." mr. costa announced as he adjusted a bunch of papers into a straight stack.
gia began to tug on her hair, irritated with the news.
she craned over to enzo. "i'm going to kill myself." she whispered sarcastically. enzo chuckled at her sarcasm.
everyone rose from their seats, eyes wandering around to meet their partner's. gia stayed in her seat, not looking forward to moving seat.
she pursed her lips, nibbling on her cheek anxiously.
once everyone was seated, that left gia and niccolo who still hadn't gotten up from their seats to sit beside each other. the class stared at them, as well as mr. costa.
"so? whose moving where?" mr. costa asked the duo, shifting glances between them as he waited for one of them to get up and move.
gia sat still, shaking her head and crossing her arms. when she didn't move, niccolo gave in.
he inhaled sharply as he pushed his chair out, jumping to his feet and grabbing his bag and turned to walk over to the empty seat beside her.
he pulled the chair out, sitting in it, still wearing an annoyed expression.
"there. alright, everyone. start!" mr. costa ordered.
the class erupted with clamoring as everyone talked and talked to their partners, avoiding the topic of the actual project.
niccolo and gia didn't even bother to look at each other until mr. costa, who was walking around the classroom to monitor conversations, stopped in front of the two.
he leaned down on the desk, gia and nico both glancing up at him. "you two better get to talking or else i'm giving you both a week worth of detention in my class." he threatened sternly.
"but sir—" gia began. costa raised his finger to shush her, shaking his head. "i don't want to hear it. i've already heard it from your parents. you two don't get along well, i get that. but from my understandings, it's your parents who do most of the arguing. not you two." costa explained, crossing his arms.
"my mother freaked out when i told him i was working with gia. she won't accept this, you realize that, mr. costa?" niccolo scoffed, staring at the man.
"then she'll just have to deal with it. and so will you two. get-to-work." costa demanded, widening his eyes to show his emphasizing. finally, he walked away.
gia sighed heavily before turning in her seat to face niccolo. "we might as well try to get something done. i'm not trying to do all the work and i know that you, for a fact, are not trying to have a one-sided project either." she admitted.
