GIA sat beside Niccolo on the bench, across from his friends. Virginia and her friend group sat a few seats down, across them too.

Gia felt many eyes on her at the moment, Marco's, Virginia's, and the ones that bothered her most were Chiara and Ludovica's.

"What are you doing?" Ludovica mouthed to the girl, sitting a few rows down. "I'm sorry. Meet me after school." Gia mouthed back. Ludo rolled her eyes, turning to Chiara.

Gia sighed at Ludo's eye roll, turning her head to Niccolo and leaning in to whisper to him, her mouth hovering over his ear. "Great. She already hates me." She grumbled to Niccolo. "That's not my problem." Niccolo shrugged, whispering back to her. "You're an asshole." Gia scoffed, shaking her head and turning to the sound of Vittorio's voice.

"Brando and I are throwing a Halloween party tomorrow at his around eight. You guys will be there, right?" The boy inquired, raising questioning brows.

Gia and Nico shared a glance before fixing their gazes back to Niccolo, nodding. "Yeah. We'll be there." Niccolo confirmed.

Gia's phone buzzed in her hand, so she looked down to it, opening a message from Marco.

govender?

: i wonder what your
parents would think of this.

Gia tilted her phone screen over to Niccolo for him to see. He rolled his eyes before looking at Marco, who waited a text back while he stared hard at Gia across the lunchroom.

"He's going to tell my parents. I told you this would happ—" Gia was cut off by a kiss from Niccolo.

Her first instinct was to pull away, but she endured the kiss for about a few moments until they broke apart.

"Why did you do that? We're only supposed to kiss if it's important!" Gia whispered to him, furrowing her brows.

Niccolo chuckled at her anger. "Marco was looking. It was just to spite him." He shrugged in defense. "Warn me next time." Gia said.

Gia set her phone done, ignoring the following texts from Marco.

Listening into the conversation between Niccolo and his friends, she zoned out, thinking about that kiss. It was so short, but also felt like eternity, not in a good way.

Knocking her out of her trance, Niccolo's hand squeezed her knee. "Gia." He repeated. Gia's head whipped up. "Huh?" She asked.

"I was asking how you two started dating." Said Carlos., looking back at the couple as he waited for a response.
