— GIA and Matteo arrived home with the groceries. Once they got back to the house, Ludovica said her goodbyes, grabbed her bags of clothes from the mall and dipped. As Gia and Matteo unloaded the bags onto the counter and into the fridge and their pantry, Gia spoke. "I'm inviting Niccolo over, alright?"
"Your boyfriend?" Matteo asked in a teasing tone, a grin on his face.
"No, not my boyfriend. My... uh—friend?" Gia shrugged, unsure what she and Niccolo even were at this point.
Changing the awkward subject with a question, "By the way, have you seen my laptop?" Asked Gia.
Matteo froze, his eyes widening. "No, I haven't.." he jumbled, avoiding eye contact.
Gia froze too, immediately sensing his weird mood. She glared at her brother with a puzzled expression.
"Matteo." Gia inhaled sharply at the sudden realization hit her. He was the one who deleted her project.
Matteo couldn't help but laugh at her serious face and tone. "What?" He asked.
"What did you do?" Gia jaw ticked in raising anger. "I—Look, I have good reason!" Matteo insisted in defense.
"Oh, do you, now?! You deleted my project!" Gia exclaimed, crossing her arms.
"Yes, but like I said, it was for good reason!" Matteo protested, glaring back at his sister as he begged her to hear him out.
"You have a minute to explain yourself or I'm actually going to kill you, Matteo." Gia grumbled, taking a deep breath to hold her composure.
"Alright. Look, after Niccolo called for you last night, so obviously caring about you compared to the way Marco did, I had to get some way for you and him to spend time together," Matteo explained.
"When I saw you were almost done with your guy's project, that would mean no more daily meet-ups, so I deleted the project so you could would spend more time together all over again."
"Well, your little plan was a complete fail. He already redid the whole thing, now I owe him in return. You seriously need to stay out of my business, there's nothing going on between either of us." Gia explained and sighed, walking over to the living room and plopping down onto the couch.
"What do you owe your boyfriend? Makeout session?" Matteo joked, snickering. "Go to your room before I slap you." Gia scoffed, playfully rolling her eyes.
Matteo listened anyway, retreating to his room and shutting the door behind him.
Gia let out a long sigh, Matteo's words getting to her. Niccolo didn't actually care, he couldn't, he wouldn't, especially not for herself.
Interrupting her knocks, knocking sounded on the front door, and for some reason, Gia was quick to jump off the couch and rush to the front door.
She pulled it open, revealing exactly who she was expecting, Niccolo. She stepped aside to let him in.
