She did not find the party to be very eventful, mainly because she managed to avoid almost everyone there as much as she possibly could. Lily and Louis, being underage, weren't obligated to go, but since Damon practically dragged her there, she decided she might as well stay until it was over. Charlie spent most of her time with Maggie, who had indeed made chilli like she said she would, but half-way through the party, Maggie started conversing to a woman named Selena Dakota, who Charlie vaguely remembered going to high school with. Charlie remained by Maggie's side because luck didn't run in their side when it came to parties such as these and because she was almost certain Drew was going to come and she was trying to avoid him. She didn't want to come face to face with him again when she knew that despite her desire to not be alone, she didn't share the same feelings he did. It made her feel ashamed for not even kissing him back when she did, and even worse that she considered him a good kisser.

After a while, time seemed to drag on, and so Charlie's mind began to wander. She thought of her mother's grimoire, which she still couldn't find, despite looking in every inch of the house. She had searched through every page of the one Elijah had given her, but it was much older than her own, and there was only a slight mention of soulmates, nothing she didn't already know or hadn't already been told. She knew that keeping secrets from her friends wasn't a good idea, they would find out one way or another as things like this always came out into the open eventually, but she had promised Elijah and because quite frankly, she wasn't ready for them all to find out. Klaus had killed Jenna and indirectly John, and he was a constant threat to everyone; he was Elijah's brother and her soulmate had betrayed them for him. She still resented the man whose soul she was tied to, and she refused to allow him access to her mind, but sometimes during the day, she caught herself missing him, which luckily went away as night came around. Last thing she wanted was seeing Elijah Mikaelson in her sleep and falling for him more than she already had. She didn't want this bond. She wanted to learn more about it so she could break it. Maybe that was why she found herself returning the kiss whenever Drew came to her, because she wanted to believe she had the free will to choose who she could be with. Maybe that was why she found herself thinking of Mason, comparing how she felt about him to how she had felt about Elijah. She had loved Mason Lockwood, he was her first love and her first heartbreak, but yet it was nothing like the feelings she had had for the Original.

"Charlie? Hey, you listening?" Maggie's voice snapped her out of it and she turned to her friend, who was watching her with a familiar look in her eyes.

"Oh, sorry." Charlie mainly apologized to Selena, who was looking at her in concern, her brunette curls falling freely over her face, her brown eyes almost doe like. "I just drifted off for a moment."

"Excuse us for a moment, Sel. We'll be with you." Maggie smiled and gripped Charlie's arm, pulling her away from the woman. Nearly everyone was gone now and Charlie was itching to leave.

"What is it?" The Prince witch asked her friend quietly, as Selena waited, her heel kicking at the air patiently. She had been in her own world nearly all day, so she had no clue why Maggie looked so excited.

"Selena's asking if we want to go get some coffee, maybe go and check out her home movie collection afterwards."

Charlie frowned. "Well, I'll bail on the movie collection but a coffee sounds-"

"No." Maggie gripped her arms, turning her attention back to her. "You're staying here, waiting for someone."

She raised an eyebrow. "I am?"

"Yes," Maggie smirked. "Selena swings for my team, so I'm going for it."

Charlie chuckled, not being able to help herself. "Mags, you swing for every team."
