"Woah. You guys have to see this."
I look curiously at Vale before dashing past the gate and through the tunnel, before slamming face-first into something warm. "Hey!" I hear Fox grin as they look over at me, before moving sideways to let me see.
It's incredible. There's a river winding between two areas, and cliffs and crannies wherever I look, because of the altitude difference. The grass is a dark green, after adjusting to the rain. I can see a faint rainbow in the distance, arcing over the cliffs.
"Wow," I hear Vale sigh in awe beside me.
"Told you it was cool." Fox points to a stone pavilion shelter nearby. "We should shelter there before seeing how to continue on."
Vale nods. "Good idea." He grabs my hand — probably to stop me from making any rash decisions. Vale is such a wimp, my brain groans.
The three of us easily make our way over there, which reveals the riverbanks and the multiple shelters scattered all over the place. The shelter has a few seats, and next to it is a blue fungi plant!
I naturally gravitate towards it. I mean, it's a plant that I've never seen! It's so exciting!
Vale puts a hand on my shoulder, but I shrug it off. "Don't worry, I'll be fine," I say casually as I poke it with my candle. It's kind of furry and bouncy, like moss...
I wonder if it's flammable? I swipe my candle against my light source, before putting it to the fungi.
It lights up...I think. Everything is a little blurry.
Suddenly, I feel myself lose control of my legs, then my arms. Then my mouth, my eyes... Soon, it's like I'm just a prisoner in my own body.
"Hello?" I yell, but I don't hear anything. "HELLO?!" I scream.
Fox and Vale's mouths are moving, but I don't know what they're saying. I can't hear anything, I can't feel anything. I can feel my brain starting to shut down.
"LET ME OUT!"
It's all blurring in front of my eyes.
"Just let me out," I whisper.
Vale runs towards me.
"Please."
Everything goes black.
