Chapter 46: The First Date

 Mikasa and I decided to go out in the afternoon after the lunch rush but before dinner. That way we could spend a lot of time together without worrying about being rushed. I admired myself in the mirror, running my hand along my jawline. I'd never much cared for my appearance so I only took care of the most basic things like my hair and hygiene, but I decided to shave for this occasion. I heard a knock on the door while I was putting the finishing touches on my freshly combed hair.

Y/n: Come in.

The door opened to reveal the captain. He looked surprised to see me all dressed up.

Y/n: What can I do for you, sir?

Levi: Erwin would like to speak with you.

Y/n: What about?

Levi: He wouldn't say, though judging by his tone it's probably important.

Y/n: I see. Tell him I'll be available later tonight.

Levi: He wants to see you now.

Y/n: I'm kinda busy right now. I have a date.

Levi: Yeah, I heard. This is more important than whatever it is you have going on with that girl. And I wasn't asking, I was telling.

Y/n(sighs): Fine, I'd rather not get into this with you now.

Levi: Follow me.

I quickly finished what I was doing before closing the door as I followed him out. We left the barracks and headed to the medical wing. After going up a flight of stairs, we arrived at the commander's room. I walked in to see him propped up against a couple of pillows, staring out the window.

Y/n: Commander.

Erwin: Ah, Y/n. Thanks for bringing him here Levi.

Levi: No problem.

Erwin: Could you give us a moment?

Levi: Sure.

The captain walked out and closed the door.

Erwin: I won't take up too much of your time. I know you've got plans.

Y/n: Yeah, tell that to him. I swear, we need to find him a girl that can cut through that shitty personality. He's so depressed all the time.

Erwin(chuckles): Trust me, there's a reason for it, but that's a story for another time.

Y/n: So what did you want to talk about?

Erwin: Well, with the recent events, it's only made the need to seal Wall Maria even greater. Given that, Hange and I have discussed running some experiments to see if you possess the same hardening ability as Leonhart. If we can somehow unlock this, that would make sealing the wall much easier. As things stand, we cant lose Rose. If that happens, humanity will go extinct.

Y/n: Glad we agree. However, without my father's work, there's not a lot we can do. I don't even know if I have that ability.

Erwin: If you can control Titans, I don't think it would be much of a stretch to think you can do this as well.

Y/n: I suppose not, but my controlling those Titans only happened after I encountered the one that devoured my mother five years ago. That tells me there must be a condition of some sort because until then, I hadn't been able to do such things before.

Erwin: Interesting. 

Y/n: Until we reach my old house, we're operating on unstable information. Now, is there anything else you need? Because I've got a date and I don't want to keep her waiting.
