The next day
We're all huddled around in a group by the table while El sits on the sofa, messing around with a walkie talkie.
"We'll just tell our parents we have AV club after school. That'll give us at least a few hours for operation Mirkwood." Mike explains.
"You seriously think the weirdo knows where Will is?" Lucas asks as I roll my eyes.
"Will you stop calling her a weirdo?" I can admit, I might be jealous of her and Mike but that doesn't mean you can bully her.
"Just trust me on this, okay? We got the supplies?" Mike asks Lucas as he grabs his supplies.
"Yep. Binoculars from 'Nam. Army knife, also from 'Nam. Hammer, camouflage bandana and the wrist rocket." Lucas says as he pulls out a slingshot.
"You're gonna take out this.. thing with a slingshot?" I ask, not to sure about our plan.
"First of all, it's a wrist rocket. And second of all, what if it's not a monster and it's a person? Then bam, I hit them in the eye and they're blind."
"Wow, you're gonna blind them. Terrific." I say as Lucas scoffs.
"Dustin, what'd you get?" Mike asks as Dustin gets out his bag and dumps it on the table.
"Alright, so we got Nutty Bars, Bazooka, Pez, Smarties, Pringles, Nilla Wafers, apple, banana, and trail mix." Dustin says proudly.
"Please tell me you're kidding Dustin." I say as I put my fingers on the bridge of my nose.
"What? We need energy for our travels. Stamina. Duh."
"Wow." I say sarcastically.
"Besides, why do we need weapons when we got her?" Dustin asks, pointing at El.
"Just because she shut one door doesn't mean we have to rely on her everytime!" I say, looking at El.
"Yeah, with her mind! Imagine what other things she can do, like, I bet she could make this fly." Dustin says as he grabs a lego set from his bag and stands in front of El.
"Oh God." I say to Lucas as he nods his head.
"Okay, concentrate. Okay?" Dustin says as he drops the lego set, nothing happening except for it falling on the ground.
"Okay, one more time." Dustin says as he drops the set one more time, nothing happening once again.
"Wow, nothing happened." I say while Mike takes the toy from Dustin's hand.
"She's not a dog!" Mike tells Dustin.
"Mike! Your friends need to leave early today!" Mrs. Wheeler yells from upstairs as Dustin, Lucas and I quickly grab our jackets.

"Hey, dad. Do you know anything else about Will?" I ask once I get home.
"Not yet honey, I'll let you know once we get more information. I know you're scared for your friend."
"What could've happened to him? He can't just disappear off the face of Earth." My mom says as I turn on the TV.
"I don't know, but I just hope he's okay." I say as I sit on the couch.

We're all looking for rocks behind a baseball game for Lucas's slingshot.
"How about this one?" Mike asks Dustin.
"Too big for the sling. So, do you think Eleven was born with her powers like the X-men or do you think she acquired them, like, like Green Lantern?" Dustin asks us.
