With it being almost a week since Maya moved in with Liz and Adam, they had decided on a family night out to dinner. Maya chose the restaurant although it didn't really matter because she ordered from the kid's menu anyway to avoid the stress of choosing an adult meal when she could simply have mac and cheese.

The three of them arrived home later than Liz had hoped, considering it was a Sunday night and they had work and Maya had school the next day. Adam unlocked the front door then let both Liz and Maya through before himself. Liz switched on the lights and took her jacket off, then took Maya's jacket.

"Okay Maya, can you go get ready for bed." Liz said, letting the dogs through the living room to run about the house.

"Yeah. Can I shower in the morning? I'm tired." Maya yawned, looking up at Liz.

"Sure. We'll be up in a minute." Liz nodded and Maya turned and walked upstairs to her bedroom.

"Do you think she's tired enough to sleep through the night?" Adam asked Liz, taking three bottles of water from the drinks fridge and handing one to Liz.

"Who knows." Liz shrugged.

"Having consecutive nightmares for a week isn't normal, Liz." Adam shook his head.

"I know it's not normal. There isn't anything more we can do. We're supporting Maya the best we can and if it continues then we'll get her an appointment." Liz explained, feeling tired herself after a week of disrupted sleep.

"Well I sent that email we drafted to her new school and the staff have been made aware of everything Maya has going on. I think that's everything we can do in preparation for tomorrow." Adam rubbed Liz's arm, watching her frown slightly. "She will be okay."

Once they were upstairs in Maya's bedroom, Liz sat down the end of her bed while Adam sorted out all of the night lights. Lucy was lying across the sheets with her head on Maya's stomach.

"Are you okay with Lucy in here or do you want me to take her out?" Liz asked, stroking over Lucy's back to keep her calm.

"I want her to stay." Maya said, watching Lucy closely to see the rise and fall of her body as she was breathing.

"That's fine. Did you take your medicines, Maya?" Liz checked, hoping the answer she got was an honest one after finding avoided pills hidden in Maya's bedroom two days after she moved in.

"Yep."

"Sure?" Liz asked, raising her eyebrows slightly.

"I took them, Liz." Maya told her honestly.

"Alright. Well done." Liz smiled.

"Good night, Maya." Adam smiled from the doorway.

"Night Maya. Have a good sleep." Liz kissed her forehead softly and Maya hummed quietly.
