There was a small list of modern day issues that Liz and Avan chose not to worry about in their parenting. Mainly technology restrictions, swearing and relationships, but one thing they definitely didn't bother over was outfit choices.

So when Avan got the phone call from Haisley's school, he was immediately calling Liz afterwards.

"Liz, you have to go and pick Haisley up from school." Avan told her after stepping out of his office.

"What? Why?" Liz asked quickly, already thinking the worst.

"She got dress coded." Avan said slowly, knowing it would drive Liz insane with anger.

"What?!" Liz snapped.

"I didn't argue, it sounded like Haisley was doing that herself. Babe, I can't pick her up because I'm in a producers meeting." Avan told Liz apologetically.

"It's fine, babe, I'll go." Liz said, starting to pack her things into her bag ready to leave the set she was filming on.

"You know what, I'll meet you there." Avan decided, simply walking out of his meeting in that moment.

"Didn't think you'd be able to sit this one out. See you in a bit, babe." Liz smiled slightly and ended the call.

After parking in the closest parking lot, Liz walked up to the high school she had been called into more times than she would have liked. She walked into the school reception area and was handed a visitors badge, she headed through to the main corridor and down to the principal's office, where she could already hear Haisley standing up for herself.

"... so maybe you should start paying attention to the boys and their dicks hanging out of their sweatpants instead of targeting girls. Or didn't you see that because my knees were distracting you?"

"Oh god." Liz sighed to herself, walking closer to the office.

Inside, Haisley was sitting on one of the chairs against the wall, listening to the unmistakable sound of her mother's high heels clacking against the floor.

"I told you, I didn't need my mom here to fight my battles." Haisley groaned when the door knocked.

"Ah, Mrs Gillies. Hello, again." The principal greeted curtly.

"Hello, Miss Banks. My husband is on his way but I'm aware this was deemed a fairly urgent matter." Liz raised her eyebrows slightly, fed up of being called into the school time after time.

"Yes, yes, urgent." Miss Banks nodded and Haisley rolled her eyes. "Have a seat, Mrs Gillies."

"Hi mom." Haisley smiled sarcastically and Liz waved awkwardly.

"This is the quietest you've been, Haisley." Miss Banks joked, receiving two hard stares from mother and daughter.

"Well maybe if you and your staff stopped talking so much bullshit, I wouldn't have to open my mouth so often." Haisley quipped.
