I walk into the first day of school. My first day of 8th grade. Ugh.

"Farah!" I turn around to see Alex running toward me. WHAT DO I SAY?!? AHHHH!!!!

"Hi." I smile at him then I make myself busy with my locker. "Umm... I wanted to ask you something?" He says nervously. "S-Sure." I reply in a small voice. "Will you go on a date with me this Friday night?"

"Y-Yeah. I'd love to." He smiles. "Great. I'll pick you up at 6:00." I nod then I grab my things, playing things cooly until he's out of sight. I then squeal and slide down the lockers. My two best friends, Hope and Jesse walk up to me. "What's with you?" Jesse asks. "Idiot! Can't you see this is a boy crisis!"

"I'm a guy! I don't understand these things." She helps me up. "So. What's going on?"

"Alex Spring just asked me out. That's what's going on!!!"

"OH MY GOD. WHAT?!?" I see Alex talking to to a couple of guys like I am with Jesse and Hope. I catch him staring. He looks away, then the slut of the school walks up to him. "Hey Lex. What's up hon?"

"Go away Quinn."

"Want to go to my house this Friday?"

"I have a date."

"With who?"

"Someone prettier than you." Her eyes move to me and mine go wide. I begin walking away, but she grabs my brown wringlets and pulls me back.

"How many times do I have to tell you, bitch!" She shoves me into the locker. I collapse on the floor. "Stay away from what's mine!" She whispers in my ear. She pins me down and starts punching me. I shove her off of me then I stand up, some parts of me wobbly.

Being a young vampire, the small gash on my eyebrow and cut on my lip won't heal fast enough. Hope and Jesse chase after me into the bathroom. "You can't be in here, Jesse."

"I don't care. My best friend just got pounded on." Jesse replies.

"Why didn't you hit her back?" Hope asks.

"Because I don't think I would've been able to stop."

"We have to do something-"

"Don't you think I want to?!? Don't you think I want to do something? But I'm on rough edges already with the principal. I go to him with a bruised eye and cut lip on the first day of school and he'll call my parents."

"Why can't you just tell them?"

"Because they wouldn't understand," I mutter. I look at them both. "Let this be. I can take care of Quinn on my own." They sigh then nod at me, Jesse playing with his vervain bracelet and Hope playing with her vervain locket that's sealed shut. Neither of them know that I'm a vampire, but I still want them protected against the supernatural.

The rest of the day goes by slowly.

Alex runs up to me after school. "Hey... I'm so sorry about Quinn."

"It's okay. I'm alright." He touches the cut on my lip and I wince slightly. "Are we still okay for Friday?"

"Yeah." I head outside and I start walking home. I don't know what I'm going to tell Ricky, Jade, or any of my family. Especially Mom and Dad.

Once I get inside, Ricky looks at me from the couch. I duck my head and I walk faster. "Farah! Back it up and park it!" I sigh then I sit down on the couch with him. He looks at my face. His face fills with so much anger that I'm glad he can't see the bruise on my side. "What happened?"

"Some bitch at school. I'm fine." I bat his hand away. "How long has this been happening?" I sigh. "The beginning of 7th grade. Happy?"

"No, not happy! Does Dad know?"
