Chapter 16

"Okay...Sof, look for Menendez...cartel leader...", she mumbled under her breath and her eyes landed on the Mexican cartel leader.

There, a person talking to the leader of the cartel, Menendez, nudged him and whispered something in his ear before walking away. Menendez turned around to face Sofia who smiled sweetly.

"Let's talk somewhere else, amigo.", Menendez said as he walked past Sofia, and he followed behind.

"You better have a good explanation for the shit you pulled up down in Cuba.", Menendez glared.

"What the hell are you talking about? You sent your men to attack my people and they killed one of my best men!", Sofia clenched her fists tightly.

"You're insane, my men have never ever stepped on your territory ever since we made the pact.I thought you would keep up to your end of the deal.", Menendez added.

"One of my D.S. took out pictures as evidence.", Sofia sighed as she showed Menendez the pictures on her cellphone next to the masks.

"That's impossible..."Menendez's eyes widened as he held the phone in his hand looking at the pictures.

"You know them?", Sofia asked frowning.

"That....that used to be one of my best men....he died in a car accident two years ago."

"That can't be...are you sure?", she asked as she took a step closer.

"Positive-", Menendez answered but stopped as he noticed something suspicious. "I don't think those guys are supposed to be here.", he stated.

Sofia turned around to see what Menendez was looking at.

"Wait right here.", She told Menendez before trailing the suspects.

Gunshots began to fire and Sofia immediately took cover behind a pillar.

Meanwhile

Kai began looking around for Reigna and panicked when he couldn't find her. His gaze flickered at the stairs that led upstairs to the roof as he watched a familiar figure walking away which led him to follow close behind.

Reigna sighed as she sat at the ledge of the rooftop and leaned back, letting the wind hit against her face. Kai sighed in relief, unable to understand why he was so concerned about her. Kai sat beside her as he loosened his tie a bit. He turned his head to face her to see her looking away.

"What's going on...?", Kai asked softly.

"Nothing...", she mumbled softly.

"You and I both know that's not true...I know everything about you inside out...and seeing you like this...it's not normal.", Kai stated.

"Nothing is ever normal anymore Kai... I don't understand how you can act so calm and normal when your sister- my best friend died!", Reigna snapped as she broke down into tears and Kai's eyes widened,stunned.

"I can't do this anymore Kai...I...I -it feels so wrong Kai...", Reigna sobbed as she continued to wipe her tears away harshly. "It feels like our relationship was just based on finding closure."

Kai wrapped his arms around Reigna pulling her closely.

"No matter how cold I might seem...I can't get over it...I can barely look at my family because I feel like I could have done better. I will sort everything out...I just need time.",Kai nuzzled his face into her hair. He pulled away and clutched her shoulders. "But I want you to know one thing for sure. Everything that we did together, every moment we've spent....whether you used me for closure, lust or love, use me as much as you want. I don't care anymore because I know that....that I-"

They flinched as they heard gunshots go off and screams following closely behind. Kai and Reigna looked at each other before quickly getting up, Kai took off his tie and coat and rolled up his sleeves as Reigna took off her heels.

"There was supposed to be no weapons allowed today.", Reigna said as she pulled out her cell phone from her purse.

"Exactly, how did they even manage to get past the guards.",Kai's jaws clenched. "Damn it....Kayla....I need to get her. She shouldn't have come today!", Kai grunted as he ran a hand through his hair as they walked towards the entrance.

Reigna held Kai's forearm and locked eyes with his eyes.

"Kai, I've got this. Ryker will keep her safe, but I'll get her immediately. Just focus on your father and my uncle, okay?", Reigna cupped his face.

Kai took a steady breath in and out, calming down.

"You're right. Use the stairs, whoever is behind this is most probably monitoring people in and out of elevators.", Kai stated as he opened the door for them to enter.

"I can sneak into the elevator, trust me. I've got this lover boy.", Reigna winked as she tapped on his lower back and walked into the building.

Kai sighed and grunted. "She never ever listens."

Reigna leaned in the shadow of the dark hallways as she scouted the area near the elevator. She watched as a guard leaned against the wall next to the elevator causing her to grunt lightly.Reigna ran a hand through her hair to mess it up a bit and began walking in a zigzag pattern.

"Heeey babe....is this the bathroom?", Reigna's gaze was hazy as she walked over to the guard seductively.

When the guard immediately heard her, his body tensed up, aiming his gun at her but she didn't flinch, instead she smirked and the guard lowered his gun. He dropped his gun as she came into the light, she wrapped her arms, hanging it around his neck while he wrapped his arms around her waist. Reigna smirked and had her hands on either side of his head before snapping it, causing his lifeless body to drop and fall to the ground. Reigna looked coldly at the body before picking up his gun.
