Chapter 38: More Than a Month Later

It had been more than a month since Sanctuary was founded and night had fallen on the town for the second time. Work on the train was steadily moving forward. There was already a station built at the entrance of town, and it looks like we'll be having a grand opening in a week or so. They already have some landing pads set up at the foot of the mountain, so Foxman has already started trading matter vials transporting them using trucks. Sanctuary is already making a killing on tariffs, so we're doing well.

When the train eventually opens up, we won't just have a grand opening for that. As it turns out, a small village has started to form at the foot of the hill and they want to be officially recognized as a separate town, but still under Sanctuary's rule. They've long agreed on the name of "Annesville," which is sweet of them, though kinda embarrassing. Needless to say, we've been upping security down there as it's the first line of defense if someone decides to invade us.

Some of the other projects have been progressing slowly. The people building the space ship have been struggling as they don't even have a blueprint to work with. That said they are determined. I feel kinda bad because I'm not even sure what the future potential for the ship could even be considering we're going to build a more accessible star port.

A team of otters were formed to swim up the water ways to find their sources, but I've been told it's been a pretty dangerous journey so far, and I fear that my casual curiosity might have put some lives in danger, however messages from the team insist that they live for this sort of thing and to not worry about it. They also released trackers to float down stream to see where they go, which is going above and beyond what I asked for. I owed them all medals when they've finished their journey.

I've been told that building an android template for ghost possession has been going along smoothly, but they've gotten hung up on making many customizable options as possible to give the ghost some individuality. I really wanted that last one to be done with, and you'll see why in a moment.

It was just another night's morning, I woke up besides Raina as I always did. We often wind up grabbing onto to each other during our sleep, and as I was now in her arms, it seems it was another one of those nights.

Raina blinked awake to meet my gaze. "Good morning, Anne." She said with a bright smile. She leaned in to give me a kiss on the cheek.

"Good morning, Raina!" I smiled back to her, my cheeks were getting hot. Life was fantastic.

We both got out of bed and prepared for the day. Raina had once again donned her new outfit. She had since cast aside her spellwriter's suspenders in favor for something more fitting for a Duchess. I guess she was really getting into the role. She wore a ruffled orange dress under a white sweater. She had a green ribbon around her waist to hold up her wand. She started wearing jewelry, including earrings, a heart pendant, and she swapped out her old bear claws with gold ones, and allowing them to be partially exposed even outside combat. Her new look made my heart flutter even several weeks after the glow up.
