Todoroki's POV

The day has come, at last. I'd have to meet up with Bakugo again at the park. My school day went by as usual, and my walk home was peaceful, as always. When I reached home, my father wasn't there, which was pretty unusual. He must be out looking for missions again. Good. I plopped down on my bed, and scrolled through my phone. Minutes felt like hours, as I kept looking at the time anxiously. Is the same thing gonna happen? Should I use my quirk if that happened? What if he just ghosts me out of nowhere? My mind suddenly dawned on the dream I had.

It's been a couple of days since I've had that dream, and it still rang on my mind.

"Oh, well...I thought you'd have some so I could...help my family." The words he said started to spiral in my mind. What did he mean by that? Is the reason why he wants my money completely different than why I expected? Will he get angry and beat me up if  I don't have the money?  I thought back to the time where I got beaten up by Bakugo over money, then to the times where I had to endure the frequent punishments in torture training. The feeling of helplessness when I was just kicked around like a ball started to ache around me. A tear fell from my eye. I didn't want to experience that again. Suddenly, an idea popped into mind. I've been saving money for emergency purposes under my bed. I reached for the jar, and looked at it, only to find it empty. My father probably found it and spent it on himself. I sighed and looked at the time on my phone.

6:45pm

Only 15 minutes left to spare. I decided to go early, and get this over with, cause why not? I took my black hoodie from the closet along with black jeans, and then headed out. Walking during nighttime is so peaceful, yet so scary. You never know if someone could be watching you, or a stray dog coming out of nowhere to attack you. Yet the silence you hear in the atmosphere and the glowing moon with the twinkling stars next to it worth it. I sat down at the bench, and looked at the stars. They're so far away, yet they shine so bright in the sky. The stars helped me relax, and I found myself falling asleep, until I felt someone's hands on my shoulders.

"BOO!" I got startled and jumped out of the seat, only to see Bakugo laughing at my reaction.

"Gosh, you're such a scaredy-cat." He laughed some more, as I fell down on my seat, my face heating up out of embarrassment and shame. I shouldn't be scared so easily like that.

"Anyways, you have what I got, right?" His tone suddenly changed. He stepped closer to me, his red eyes staring so deep into my soul. He looked like he was about to kill me. I gulped.

"N-No, I don't." I mumbled defeatedly. I could feel him turning from calm to angry in just milliseconds. He leaned in and whispered in my ear.

"You do know what happens when I don't have what I want this time, right?" His voice was so deep and imitating, which reminded me of my Dad when I was caught slacking off during torture training. I could only whimper and nod my head slowly. His hand raised up, tightened into a fist. He was about to hit me, but I stopped him by squeezing my eyes shut, and letting my tears fall down from my eyes. I couldn't help it, but he reminded me too much about my dad. How he talks to me in that deep voice, and how much his hits hurt me. I sobbed for a while, but then stopped opened my eyes, and saw that he didn't hit me, but was just looking at me with concern and guilt.

He must've thought that I was weak, crying over something that I should've been use to by now. My father was right...I really am useless.

"Hello? Todoroki, can you hear me?" I snapped out of my thoughts and saw Bakugo waving his hand over my face. I wiped my tears from my face, and sat up from the ground as he lost his grip on me. I nodded and he started to speak again.

"Why were you crying, hah? My fist wasn't even close to your face, and you were bawling your eyes out like a baby. You weak or something?"

That struck my heart. Although I do hear my dad saying that all the time, realizing that it was my father saying that to me made it hurt even more. Tears started to form in my eyes and my head lowered to the ground, my hand gripping my hair as I tried to stop myself from crying.

I guess I'll forever be labeled as weak..I can forget about being a hero or saving the world when I can't even save myself.

My thoughts abruptly stopped as I felt something warm place on my back. I lifted my head, and turned to see Bakugo placing his hand and looking at me with a soft and calm expression on his face. I don't know why, but just looking at his soft face made me calm down, yet my heart kept beating faster inside of me, and I could feel my cheeks getting a little hot. Strange.

"Listen, Todoroki. Based on your reaction, I can tell that my words had hurt you, and I'm sorry for that. The thing is, I always act like the way I am is to protect myself from being vulnerable."

Vulnerable...was he hiding something?

"What do you mean vulnerable? Are you hiding something from me?" I exclaimed and he let out a sigh.

"Yes...I am."

So what he said in the dream was true after all...

"Alright. I'm all ears." I mumbled.

Bakugo then started to go on about the situation he's in with his family right now. Apparently, his sister was sick and his parents had recently just passed away, so he's been working hard at school to afford for her treatment in order to keep her alive. Her time was running out, so he started to act out more when I didn't give him his money over a period of time. Everything was starting to make sense.

"I see." I murmured as he finished talking about his issues. We just sat there in awkward silence for a couple of minutes until he cleared his throat.

"Well...that settles it, hm?" I turned to look at his eyes. They looked ruby red, and that feeling in my cheeks came back again.

"Yes. It does." I forced a little smile, which made him smirk a little. Then his smirk dropped, and his eyes started to look sad.

"Now that you know about my money issue...can you please bring the money soon? My sister is my only family left, and I can't afford to lose her." His eyes started to form tears, but he looked up at the sky, fighting back the urge to cry. I couldn't help but give him a hug. He was shocked, but then accepted it and hugged me back.

"Don't worry. I'll get it as soon as possible." I mumbled as I felt him tightening his embrace around me. His body was so warm, and it made me feel so...tingly inside.

What is this feeling?

We stayed like that for a while before he broke the hug, stood up, and reached out his arm to me.

"Shall we go home?" He said softly with a warm smile.

"We shall." I grabbed his hand, helping me up, and walked home together.
