"We broke up..." Aria sniffled while walking into her mom's open arms.
"Oh honey." Her mom cooed before taking a deep breath, in a hurry to comfort her crying child she had accidentally spilled some tea on the counter.
"Was it mutual or was it toxic?" She asked while sitting her young daughter down at the table and pouring her a cup of hot tea.
"I don't know mom. We argued... then I left."
"So did the words "we're done" come out?" She asked while sitting down beside her daughter, her hand reaching out to her shoulder.
"No but-"
"Then technically you still have a chance to make things right. Why don't you invite her to that party Calista is throwing for you. Just no alone time got it?" Her mother got up and began cleaning up the mess on the kitchen counter from the spilled tea.
"No. Mom. My friends despise her and our age gap. All they do is try to break us apart."
"I'm sure they'll see that it'll work aria. I'm trying to be okay with this. It sure is weird seeing your daughter with an older woman you know? That goes for your best friends too. They just don't want you to get hurt"
Aria took a deep breath and sipped her tea, allowing it to run down her throat and soothe the soreness from crying and shouting.
Soon enough arias mom had to leave for work which meant it was time for Aria to begin getting ready for her own birthday party.
She tossed on a black dress and paired it with black heels and ran out the door.
She climbed into the Uber that awaited in the front and put her headphones in.
Once she arrived she walked inside only for everyone to scream and shout at her.
"Happy birthday!!" Multiple people shouted in unison while holding their alcohol filled glasses up in the air.
Aria gave a polite chuckle and raced to meet Calista by the drink table.
"Holy shit you made it." Lista squealed, tossing herself onto the birthday girl.
"Why do you look sad? What happened? Who am I killing tonight?" The half drunk brunette said while putting her fists up but aria gave a small laugh and shoved her hands down.
"Nobody. Just me and Billie broke... up." Aria seemed to force the words to come out as quietly as possible.
It was almost as if everyone shut up only to hear what Aria had said.
"Oh hell no. Girl if you don't show up at her apartment with a bottle of wine and kiss and make up you'll lose her forever." A boy said from behind her, startling her slightly.
"Oh that's Ryan. He's gay." Calista whispered.
"Here honey. Come back soon, bring her with you." Ryan shoved a bottle of wine in arias purse that hung down on her side and hugged her.
Aria gave Calista a look, a look as if she was asking for permission to leave her own party.
"Go on. Be back soon. There's a big surprise waiting for you." Calista walked aria to the door and handed her a pair of keys.
"Take the car. I trust you."
"No. It's a beautiful night. I'll walk." Aria shoved the keys back into her friends hand and began walking down the road.
Billie's apartment wasn't more than an hour away by foot.
So Aria walked as fast as she could, allowing her feet to rest every time she stopped to check her phone.
Soon enough she had arrived at Billie's apartment.
Her apartment seemed dark from the outside of the complex.
But she decided to walk up and knock on her door anyways.
She knocked twice and to her surprise Billie opened the door, half asleep.
"What are you doing here?" Billie asked, rubbing her eyes before dragging the young girl inside.
"My birthday is in... an hour and I don't want to spend my birthday without you Billie. Calista is throwing a party and she wants you to come. She wants me happy Billie and that isn't possible unless you are in my life."
Billie looked down at Arias seemingly heavy purse and sighed.
"I'm not mad at you Aria. I just wish we would've talked things out before you stormed off."
"Okay... then. Get dressed. I want to spend tonight... and everyday of my life with you."
