"You need help." Kira said while standing up, her face growing angry.
"What do you mean? What do you mean that I need help Kira?"
Aria asked looking at her best friend with wide eyes.
"I mean that if you don't give us a chance to help you with whatever's going on in your head, everything will cave down on you at the worst moment." Kira said while sitting down on the bed.
"You need to tell me what's going on between you and our English teacher. I just want to help you."
"Kira. I don't need help. I need my friends. My parents are divorcing, my baby brother is begging for help but can't come out of his room without the fear of our parents screaming back and forth. And I'm falling in love with my teacher."
Aria slammed her notebook down on her bedside table and took a deep breath, letting go of it slowly.
"I didn't see it that way Aria. You're lucky Billie didn't get caught yet. Give a few weeks."
Kira stood up and walked to the door, turning around to capture a look of desperation and fear in Aria's eyes before she left.
No matter how many times I'm there for you; you always turn your back on me. Change is what's needed to construct a foundation in our friendship. Never will I give you the pen to write the story that is my life.
Aria jumped out of her sleep, she must've fallen asleep at her desk while writing.
Her mom was working a late shift, her brother was having a sleep over and her dad was in a hotel.
She had the house to herself, though she couldn't stand being home alone.
Finally she decided to check her phone.
So many missed calls from Billie.
But she wanted to avoid her, even though her day didn't feel complete without talking to her.
Suddenly there was a knock on the main door which made Aria jump.
She fixed the long tshirt over her shorts and tiptoed down the stairs, slowly opening the door.
"Aria why are you avoiding me?" Billie's voice asked loudly while the rain poured over her head.
"I'm not avoiding you Billie. Come inside before someone sees you."
Aria stepped back, allowing Billie to walk fully inside the house. She looked up at Billie, her eyes rife and glossy.
"You haven't returned my calls."
"I got into an argument with my friends and fell asleep after. That isn't avoiding you. It's avoiding my problems." Aria couldn't find the courage to look into the older woman's eyes in this very moment.
She blinked away her tears and continued looking at the ground until Billie pulled her into a hug.
"It's going to be okay." Billie whispered.
"It's not going to be okay Billie. My parents are divorcing, I'm hanging out with my teacher and sleeping at her place, my friends hate me and I hate myself." Billie hushed the younger girl and just embraced her tightly.
"Stop it. Aria, please. Do you not want me here?"
Billie asked while letting go of the girl.
"What I want is for everything to be okay. I want life to go back to normal." Aria sat down and buried her head in her arms, attempting to hide the fact that she was crying.
Billie sat next to her and wrapped her gentle arms around her, ever so lightly squeezing her.
"It's okay... cry it out." Billie cooed.
