Ashley was now a year old. Her mother couldn't believe it. Ashley was crawling around on the floor; she was going everywhere. Her mother stood by, looking down on her, watching Ashley crawl on the floor. At least, that was when Ashley got bored and started trying to get up. She then tried walking.
Now her mother was very interested. Ashley was taking her first steps! How exciting! Her mother counted the steps she took. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5...6...7...8...9...10..
And then Ashley fell hard to the floor. She did not make it to the eleventh step. Ashley's mother could tell Ashley was hurt because the floor didn't have a mat. "Are you okay?" Her mother asked her. Ashley stared at her mother. And then she burst into tears and had a tantrum. She began crying very loudly. At least she isn't doing this in public, her mother thought.
"It's okay. Are you hurt? You look hurt. Where does it hurt?" Her mother tried again. But that just made Ashley cry harder. Her mother sighed. Babies are cute, but they take a lot of responsibility to take care of, even if they are a pain in situations like this.
Ashley's mother picked Ashley up, then cradled her in her arms, swinging it, trying to rest her. Just then, Ashley's father came down the stairs. "Hi. How's Ashley?" He asked.
"She's good. What were you doing?" The mother asked. "Me? I was reading the newspaper until I got interrupted by Ashley's crying." The father responded. The mother looked down in her arms. The baby stopped crying, and she rested peacefully. "I think she wants milk." The mother said, "Of course. I'll go get some." Said her father.
The father went to the kitchen, where the fridge is. He opened it, found the milk, poured some into the baby's cup, heated it in the microwave, then came rushing back to where the baby was. "She's so cute." The father said, "She is." Her mother said, The mother thanked the father for getting her milk, and she stuck the cup in the baby's mouth. Ashley was starting to calm down and drink the milk.
Right then, the doorbell rang. "I'll get it! You stay here with Ashley." Said the father. "Okay." The mother said, The father rushed to the door, wondering who it was. He first peeked outside. Oh. Just a friend. He opened the door.
"Hello!" The father said, "Hi!" Daya, who was a friend of Ashley's father, The father realized his husband, David, was also here. And two girls, who must be Dayas kids. "Are they your kids? How old are they?" He asked. "Oh. They are both a year old. Sorry for not mentioning that earlier. Yeah, we have kids. That one is Noelle, and that one is Bethany." He said, pointing to kids.
"You can come in! With your kids. We can have lunch together!" The father said, "Great!" Daya said. The father went over to the mother. "Who was that?" The mother asked. "Daya and David." The father responded. "Hello!" The mother said this to Daya. They settled down to talk, and the father talked to David about work.
Meanwhile, while the parents were talking, the babies crawled toward each other and played with the toys. Ashley and Noelle played with each other, and Bethany played on her own. However, Bethany had Ashley's favourite and best toys to play with. Ashley thought it was unfair because the toys were hers and not Bethany's. In fact, Bethany tried ruining the fun by trying to take with her the toys Ashley is currently playing with. Ashley tried taking the toy back. However, Bethany tried grabbing it and pulling it with all her might. It looked like a tug of war, except with a toy.
Ashley knew from day one that all Bethany wanted was everything she had, and she has hated her ever since. And Noelle didn't do anything about it.

It was a nice day to take a walk. It's the weekend, and it's sunny outside.
Sylvia, my older daughter, is at her high school graduation party. She's really growing up so fast; she's starting college very soon. My other daughter is Hailey, who's seven years younger than Sylvia. Hailey is eleven years old and starting middle school in the fall.
Hailey is at a friend's house. Nicholas went to buy groceries and get gas. Nicholas is Hailey's father. So it's just me.
I closed the door behind me and set out to take a walk in the park. Oh wow. The weather is nice.
Little kids were playing at the park, parents were talking to each other, dogs were chasing each other all over the place, and some teenagers were biking. The sound was amazing to hear. It really is a nice day. Some other people, like me, had the idea to bring kids out. However, mine grew up. It was nice when they were little. Sylvia and Hailey were both cute.
I continued walking. I then decided to go into the woods to walk because it's cool. So that's where I went after I took one big lap around the park.
Up ahead, I saw a parent walking with a kid who looked like 10 years old. The kid is a boy, I realized. Then I got closer. Why does this parent sound or look familiar?
"It's nice weather, isn't it?" The parent said. "That's because there's sun!" Her kid said, "What do you want for dinner?" The parent asked. "Your older brother is out for a competition. It's your choice!" "Let's ask dad." The kid said,.
Wait. Now she remembered! This person is Noelle. My first ever friend!
"Oh, hi! Are you Noelle?" I asked her. "Yes! I am! Who are you?" She asked me. "You don't remember? I'm Ashley. Ashley from back when you were a year old?"
"Oh! Yes! Ashley! I remember you now! You changed a lot." Noelle said. "Who's that?" I asked. "Oh. My kid. Her name is Daisy, and she's 10 and 6 months old." Replied Noelle. "Oh. She's cute." I said, looking at her. "Hi." She said. "Hello. I'm your parents friend." I said to her.
"So you get married? To who?" I asked Noelle. "I got married to Trevor, and we had her." Noelle said. "Wow! What are you doing for a job?" I asked. I saw Daisy roll her eyes. I could tell she was bored by just standing there and watching us talk. We talked about everything. From our address to what happened in college, and finally, we exchanged phone numbers so we could talk again!
Until it started to rain. Raindrops splattered our skin and hair. "I should get going. It's starting to rain, and Daisy is bored." Noelle said. "I should go too. Bye." I said. "I hope I'll see you again!"

I better get back home before I'm drenched in the rain.
