CHAPTER 1

It has been nearly three years since my mother passed away in an accident, and since then, my father has remarried to a woman, She is selfish and unpleasant, much like her daughter Diana.

I understand that my father needs a partner by his side, but I strongly dislike the fact that he chose to marry Trina because she is a utterly rude.

I am in my dad's office to find evidence to remove Trina and her daughter from our house. I am aware that Trina married my dad solely for his money, and once he is without money, she will abandon my dad, Trina is untrustworthy.

"What are you doing here??" Trina asked me.

"it's none of your business" I said it with a snobbish tone.

"Ohh girl, it's my business because your father chose to marry me" She smirked, believing she has the authority to control me.

"No, Trina, you cannot control my life." I said, then walked away. Talking to her is pointless, much like her.

"I'm not finished talking!" She shouted, but I ignored her and kept walking.

"Arghh, that woman is really getting on my nerves." I smiled as I looked at the USB I found in my dad's office.

I opened my laptop and inserted the USB. I discovered a file named "Trina Madrigal." I sensed that there was something suspicious in that file.

I was shocked and felt frozen for a moment when I saw Trina smiling as she watched a man being murdered by another man. I knew Trina was rude, but I never expected this level of darkness from her, Dad needs to see this. Trina is truly a monster.

I was about to go to my dad's when my phone rang.

"Hello, who is this?" I asked.

"You need to come to the hospital. Your dad is here, and he is in critical condition." She answered.

I ran and called my driver to take me to the hospital. I was terrified, hoping that my dad will be okay.

"Where is my dad?" I asked the nurse.

"Sino po ang hinahanap niyo?" She asked.

"Mr. Madden, please, can you tell me where he is?" I am panicking, feeling like my world will crumble if something bad happens to my dad.

"He is in the ICU"

I ran quickly to the ICU and saw two bodyguards outside. I felt curious about why there were bodyguards there.

"Pasensiya na po madam, bawal muna raw po pumasok ang hindi kamag-anak" He said and then blocked the door.

"Are you stupid? I am his daughter. Let me in, or I will call the police to have you arrested," I firmly asserted.

"She cannot enter this room." Trina suddenly spoke. She walked towards me and gave me a smirked.

Then the bodyguard allowed her to enter the room.

"Let me in. I will confront that woman, she has no right to do this. I am the real family, not that murderer." I said angrily.

"Ava, are you okay?" I heard Emily's voice. I turned around and saw her.

"I'm not Emily. That bitch thinks she owns everything" I said, then cried. She hugged me and comforted me.

"Shhh, relax. I'll help you see your dad" she comforted me.

Emily is my childhood friend. She has always been there for me. Her dad is the Chief of Police, and I know she can help me. That Trina, she thinks she can do anything. Emily called her dad to seek help. My dad and her dad are close friends, and he will do anything for his friend. When he heard that Trina hired a bodyguard and did not allow me to enter the room, he immediately went to the hospital and used his authority. Trina had no choice because Emily's dad is one of the most powerful in this city.

My tears started to fall again when I saw my dad lying in bed, unconscious.

"Dad, what happened to you? I know Trina did this. Please wake up. Don't leave me. I need you. You're the only one I have. Please wake up, Dad." I cried so much.

I saw one finger of my dad move. I was about to call the doctor when he grabbed my hand and started talking. I slowly moved closer to him to hear what he was saying.

"Be careful of Trina, my baby" he whispered. Then the monitor straightened out. I froze, feeling like my world had shattered around me. I felt like the world was spinning, with nothing left. The only presence remaining was that of a stepmother, whom I considered a murderer.

"Dad!" I shouted as tears streamed down my face.

Dad left me with so many questions. He knew what Trina was doing, yet he never left her. What was wrong with him? And now he has left Trina to me, cautioning me to be careful of her. I want to confront my dad. I want to shout at him so he realizes he married the wrong woman. But how can I do that now that he is gone? I feel like my life is so miserable.

We are here at the cemetery to bury my dad. My heart still feels heavy, but no tears fall. I look at Trina, who is faking her cries. I want to grab her hair and bury her here, but this is my dad's last day. I want to respect this day. I don't want any trouble. I just want my dad to rest in peace.

I am alone now with my dad. Trina escorted everyone back to the house, and I know that after this, they will continue with their lives. But for me, I don't think I can continue with my life. My mom already left me, and now Dad is gone. I don't know what to do.

"Dad, I'm sorry. I don't know how to start my life again. I feel so empty now."

As I enter the house, I see Trina talking to two men who look like bad people. They stared at me for a moment, then whispered to Trina. I chose to ignore them because I don't have time for Trina's antics.
