Mikey's pov

I woke up, startled. I turned over to realize it was just Pete getting in bed, wrapping his arms around me. "Good morning sleepyhead," he smiled as I yawned. I hugged his arm and snuggled with it. He chuckled and kissed my head as I rubbed my eyes and forcing myself awake. We got out of bed and he went to go put on a shirt while I dragged myself to brush my teeth. I looked up while brushing my teeth to see Pete hugging me from behind. "Clingy today aren't you?" "Mm maybe," I rolled my eyes as I smiled, putting my toothbrush away. We went to the living room as he passed me some food. I looked at down at my phone, it was already 3:27pm. I didn't really have any plans for today, so I didn't care much. Pete sat and watched me eat my lunch silently, just admiring me.
Suddenly, my phone rang. It was Ray, I picked it up. "Hey Mikey, do you wanna come watch fireworks with me later at 10? You can bring Pete if you want." I looked up at Pete as he nodded. I said yes as he sent me all the details and the location. I didn't even know why there were fireworks, but I didn't really care. I liked fireworks. They were always so pretty, but loud. It was at a beach, so Ray suggested that we had a little picnic.

I didn't really care much about seeing fireworks or whatever, but if Mikey cares.. that's a different story. Mikey put his phone down as he continued eating.

-later-

When we got there, I rushed to go open the door for Mikey. I held my hand out to help him, but didn't let go. "What are you doing?" He giggled. "Nothingg.. why are your hands so cold?" "Oh it's nothing it's just a little cold-" before he could even finish his sentence, I put our food down and took off my jacket, putting it on him. He tried to give it back by pushing it, saying that it really wasn't a big deal. I insisted, even helping him wear it. I could see him smile a little as he zipped it up. I picked up the food and we went to go find Ray. He already put down his mat and the food he brought. We went to go sit with him and laid down all the food. I could feel Mikey shift closer and closer to me, our hands touching. I smiled as I looked down, blushing. Our pinkies touched as I could see Mikey smiling to himself too. We had a few minutes before the fireworks started, so we decided to start eating already. I reached into our bag and passed Mikey and Ray some sandwiches. "You remembered?" "Of course. You like it cut diagonally, you want the cheese to be slightly melted but not touch the lettuce. You don't like bread crust and only want 3 pickles. Nothing more, nothing less." I could see his face light up. He threw his arms around me tightly, kissing me. I was surprised as Mikey wasn't usually this touchy or affectionate. I patted his back as he calmed down. I could see Ray giggling, taking photos. I don't blame him, Mikey is rarely this lovey-dovey in public, let alone at home. "The fireworks are gonna start in a minute!" Ray exclaimed as he turned his back on us and pointed up at where the fireworks would be.

I shifted to sit closer to Pete, putting my head on his shoulder. He looked shocked for a minute, but patted my head and kissed it. I couldn't help but smile. I don't smile a lot, but it's like when I'm with him, nothing else matters. He reached into his pocket and put something in my ear before gently lifting my head up. "What is it?" "Earplugs. I know you don't like loud noises, but love fireworks. I bought them just for you." I was about to cry, hearing those words come out of his mouth. What did I ever do to deserve him? He carefully put the other earplug in before putting my head back on his shoulder. He held my hand again, eating his sandwich with the other. His hands were so warm, I could seriously melt. I looked up as the fireworks started. I could feel Pete pull me even closer to him as he took out his phone and started taking pictures of the fireworks for me. I knew he didn't care for fireworks, but he knows I like them. He flipped the camera, "Do you mind if I take a photo of us baby?" "Of course not," I smiled as he turned to kiss my head and took the photo. "I love you, Mikey." "I love you too, Pete." I could feel a sense of comfort as he put his phone down and around my shoulder. "Group picture!" Ray shouted as he raised his phone. Pete did half a heart while I did the other half, seeing Ray smile as he took the picture.

I turned to kiss Pete as he kissed me back, cupping my face. It felt as if the whole world stopped as we pulled away, staring into each other's eyes. He smiled as everything started quietening down, meaning the fireworks had ended. He took the earplugs out of my ears and put them back in their box before shoving it into his pocket. He pointed up at the sky, "Look, it's a shooting star!" He quickly closed his eyes and silently made a wish like a little boy. "Did you manage to make a wish?" "No, but it's okay." "Awh, what were you going to wish for?" He asked, his eyes softening. "There's nothing in the world I want more than to be with you forever, my love." I whispered in his ear, hugging him as I kissed his neck. He smiled as he hugged me back, "Me too baby, I love you." "And I love you more," he giggled as we pulled each other in for another kiss.
