Pete's pov

I sighed as I finally reached home after a long day at work. I opened the door expecting to see Mikey sitting the couch watching television while waiting for me to come home, but all the lights were off. "Mikey?" I called as I turned on the light to see a small note on the floor asking me to go into our bedroom. I was confused, but did so anyway. The second I opened the door, Mikey shouted as he jumped and hugged me tightly, "Happy birthday my love!!" I was taken aback. "W-Wait, it's my birthday? Already?!" "Yeah silly, I was wondering why you still got up for work this morning. I know you've been working hard and overtime lately, so you've probably been too busy to notice your birthday coming up." He smiled, wrapping his arms around my neck. I kissed him passionately, my hands wrapped around his waist, "thank you baby, I can't believe I almost forgot my own birthday. You did this.. all for me?" "Mhm," I looked around the room to see led lights around with balloons spelling "happy birthday" and a big bouquet of flowers on our bed. "Woah.." I mumbled, mesmerised as I looked around. There was even a small scented candle to set the mood, along side a mixtape with all my favourite songs playing. He giggled as he pinched my cheek playfully, grabbing the flowers. "These are for you babe. I hand made them just for you!" He exclaimed as I took them, examining how perfect they were.

"You.. made this? For me?" "Of course!" "I-I don't know what to say I.. this is amazing Mikey!" I marvelled, barely able to even think. I held them carefully, the biggest smile ever on my face. Mikey had been colour blind for forever, and he mixes up yellow and orange very often. He'd made me a bouquet worth of flowers, but they were orange. My favourite colour was yellow, but I knew deep down that he was trying his best. I never had the heart to correct him everytime he got me something thinking it was yellow, and would always play along. "Do you like them?" "Are you kidding me? I love them," I said as I hugged him tighter than ever, never wanting to let such an amazing person go. He giggled as he hugged me back, patting my back. I snuggled with his neck as I showered him with kisses. "Thank you.. I didn't even realize it was my birthday until now. And you didn't have to do all this, you know?" "I know, but I wanted to. Simply because I love you and could never miss your birthday for the world, even if everybody else did. I love you, Pete. Happy birthday my love," "I love you so much Mikey, and thank you," I couldn't help but shed a tear, sniffling. Mikey quickly cupped my face, wiping it away with his thumb, "Are-.. Are you crying?!" "Yeah no uh, sorry. I just.. I-I didn't expect this. Thank you, really," I cupped his face, leaning down to connect our lips.

He rubbed my cheek with his thumb as his gaze softened, kissing me. "I'm sorry nobody remembered.." "That's okay, I really couldn't care less about any of them when I have you," I assured him with a smile. He seemed concerned, hugging me tight. I patted his head as I kissed it, trying to convince him that it was really okay. He refused to let me go even after I hugged him back, pulling him closer by the waist. I lifted his chin to look up at me as I leaned in for a kiss, his arms wrapped around my neck. "Well.. come on, there's cake too!" He smiled as he took my hand and lead me to the kitchen. He had me sit at the dining table as he turned off the lights, walking in with a little cake and a couple of lit candles while singing happy birthday. I looked down as I could feel my eyes well up again, sniffling. Mikey paused mid sentence as he noticed me trembling. "Pete..? Are you okay?" He asked worriedly as he set the cake infront of me and pulled a chair next to me. I shook my head while smiling, quickly wiping my tears away and trying to pull myself together. He held my hands in his as a tear rolled down my face. "I'm sorry it's just uh.. all these years I either spent my birthdays getting drunk or just a small cupcake. No songs, no gifts, no balloons or anything.. I haven't had this in a long time. So thank you, you're the greatest thing I could ask for," I explained as I hugged him tight.

We hugged for a good couple of minutes before I pulled away, sniffling. Mikey cupped my face as he wiped away my tears, kissing my face. "I love you so much," "And I'll always love you forever, happy birthday my love," we giggled as we connected our lips once more. He finished the song as I blushed, fidgeting. "Well, go on, blow out your candles and make a wish!" He beamed. I giggled as shut my eyes and made a wish before blowing out the candles. I smiled as he applauded and cheered before going to turn on the lights. He took the candles out as he passed me the knife and two plates. I stood up to get a better angle before slowly cutting the cake, seeing Mikey hug my waist from the corner of my eye as he looked up at me happily. "For my one and only prince," I said playfully as he chuckled, kissing my cheek. I cut a small slice for myself as I knew how much Mikey loved cake, sitting down and passing him a fork. We fed each other little pieces of the cake, blushing. My eyes lit up as I took a bite, butterflies in my stomach multiplying everytime.

"Hehe, is it good?" "The best," I complimented, my mouth full of cake. He giggled as I'd accidentally gotten some cream on my nose, grabbing a tissue and wiping it off before kissing me on the lips. We ate some of the cake together before saving the rest for tomorrow, spending the rest of the night talking and dancing the night away in our bedroom as we listened to all my favourite songs. His face turned red as I pulled him close, kissing him passionately, "I love you Mikey Way, and I wouldn't wish for anything but to spent eternity with you. You say you feel bad that nobody else cared, but you're all I'll ever need. This is all so sweet, but to me, you're the greatest gift of them all. I love you, and thank you for being in my life,"
