𝐍𝐄𝐒𝐒𝐀 𝐒𝐓𝐎𝐎𝐃 𝐀𝐓 her locker, pulling different books and binders out of it and shoving them into her backpack. It had been a long day, but definitely not as bad as she was expecting. The school had  gone out of their way to make sure that she had a fair number of classes with Zach. That was one of Mrs. Dempsey's no negotiation points when she met with the Liberty Staff to talk about her daughter's return.

She was just about to close her own locker when she heard the slam of another one, causing her to jump. She looked over to see Bryce Walker in Tyler Down's face.

"Fucking hell." she muttered as she watched the scene.

"I never laid a hand on you." Bryce spat. "Never. I saw other guys fucking with you, I told them to back off. Why are you talking about me in court?"

Nessa hadn't had time to even think about the trial today. The most thought she had given it was this morning, when she had shot Tyler a quick good luck text.

"Jesus, how did you know that already?" Tyler asked. "Did Clay tell you?"

"Nevermind how I know, just tell me why you talked." Bryce demanded. Nessa noticed Scott looking away from Bryce and over at her. She hated seeing him around Bryce, and even Monty, who hadn't made a single effort to check on her, even though they had been friends for years. However, she accepted it, knowing that it would affect Scott's eligibility and scholarships if he didn't play baseball.

"Cause your little darkroom threat didn't scare me." Tyler told the boy, and Nessa smiled. She was so proud of him for learning how to defend himself. It was something that they had talked about while Alex was in his coma, and she was so happy to see it happening in front of her.

"What darkroom threat?" Bryce asked innocently, but Nessa knew better.

"You can fuck with me all you want, I don't care." Tyler raised his voice. "You'll pay."

That was about when Nessa decided to go diffuse the situation, for Tyler. He had helped her a lot in this journey, and she knew that she owed him the same. So, she forced herself to put one foot in front of the other and go grab him from Bryce, knowing that if Zach knew about this, he would probably ground her himself.

"Alright, let's go, Ty." Nessa said as she grabbed his arm, and pulled her away from the boys. "Bryce, leave him alone."

Bryce blinked back at Nessa, the ends of his mouth creeping up into a smile as Scott watched both of them, ready to step in if Nessa needed saving as well. Tyler glanced at the girl, softly smiling at her before he walked off with her. Mr. Porter approached the two students, stepping in front of them as they walked away from the group of boys.

"Listen." Mr. Porter began as Nessa tried to speed up her step. "If Bryce hassles either of you again, come and tell me."

Nessa and Tyler both nodded, ready to make a break for it at any second. "And Tyler, I want you in my new special skills class."

Tyler looked over at the girl beside him, their eyes dancing between the two as Tyler grimaced, rubbing his lips together.

"No, thank you." he replied shortly, stepping away once again.
