𝐍𝐄𝐒𝐒𝐀 𝐌𝐀𝐃𝐄 𝐇𝐄𝐑 way to the yearbook room after school. Tyler had asked both her and Alex to meet him there after school, and Nessa had agreed. She was still extremely frustrated with Alex for his insensitivity to both her and Jessica, but she didn't want to put Tyler in the middle of it. Besides, she needed all of the help she could get with her trial date looming in two days.
Nessa rushed into the yearbook room, her eyes meeting Alex's as he sat on the front table, waiting for Tyler to get out of his meeting. Alex looked over at her upon her entrance, his eyes softening.
"Ness..." Alex began, and Nessa walked over and dropped her backpack, pushing her body up to sit next to him.
"Alex, it's okay." she said softly. "I know you want to help, and I appreciate it, but telling my story won't fix it all."
Alex sighed, regretting the words that left his mouth earlier that day. He had never been so insensitive to his girlfriend in the year that they had been together, and he was embarrassed that he had gotten to that point.
"I know, and I get that now," he said. "I'm sorry."
Nessa pushed her body off of the table and stepped in front of Alex. She positioned her body in between his legs and wrapped her arms around him. "I know, it's okay."
Alex looked at her as he pressed his smile onto her lips, sharing a soft kiss when Tyler entered the room, exasperated as the door slammed behind him.
"What happened?" Alex asked as he pulled away from Nessa. Tyler slammed his camera bag onto the table.
"Mr. Kurtz just freaked out on me." Tyler said, defeat in his voice. "Apparently, I'm no longer allowed to photograph female sports."
Alex nodded, and Nessa's face fell. She knew how much Tyler enjoyed photography.
"This is how our school has decided to 'respond' to my testimony." Tyler spat.
"By only letting you photograph the jocks who bullied you." Alex said.
"Classic Liberty High." Nessa hissed, and Tyler nodded, a small smile creeping on his face.
"This school is king of irony." Alex agreed. Tyler smacked his lips, looking down.
"I don't really understand irony exactly." he said.
"No one really does." Alex assured him, stabilizing himself with his cane again. "Hey, so did you make a copy of Hannah's tapes?"
"Alex..." Nessa said, but he turned immediately and cut his eyes at her slightly. She knew that not knowing what was on the tapes bothered him, but she also knew that it would most likely completely derail his healing process, especially if he heard her own tape.
She didn't want that for him, he had carried enough with him as it was.
"Why?" Tyler asked, his voice hollow as he stared at Alex with confusion. "I mean, I thought about it. For insurance or whatever, but no.
