Chapter 3: What happens at the mall stays at the mall, right?

We left at 11 and went straight to the mall. Once we got there the mall was just opening. I looked at Brenda with so much love I thought my pupils where in heart shaped. She treated me like a daughter and I treated her like the mother I always wanted. She immediately took me under her wing and I never asked her to. That is how nice she is.

"Well we are here. What store do you want to go to first?" Brenda asked once we went through the open doors.

I looked at the mall through amazed eyes. "I don't know. I don't know. I've never been in the mall except for the one time I had to get my mom New undergarments." I shuddered at the thought.

"Ok. How about Ulta? Get some make up. Do you wear make up?" She asked. I thought about it and no I didn't. But that was because my mom wouldn't let me. Nobody is stopping me know.

"I would like to start. Something new." I told Brenda with excitement in my eyes.

"Ok. Let's go to Ulta." Brenda said almost as excitedly as I was. We walked for a little bit until we make it to the store. The sign looked over out heads. Just looked in the store and saw make up everywhere.

"Thank you for doing this." I smiled.

We walked in and I followed Brenda to the back of the store. It looked like that's where they kept foundation. I looked around at the many brands. Brenda brought me to this brand called bare minerals. I saw this in my mom's bathroom whenever I cleaned it. A small smile crept on my face as I looked at the make up.

"Hello. Is there anything I can help you with?" The worker asked a smile plastered to her face.

"Umm. Yes, can you help my daughter find her skin color?" Brenda asked nicely

"Yes of course. Have you worn make up before?" She asked me a little annoyed we actually needed help with something.

"No. Not at all." I answered sheepishly.

"Ok. So let's start with the lighter end. You seem to be a pit pail, no offense." The worker said slowly like just couldn't hear or anything.

"None taken." I muttered

"Ok. Now come sit down and let's figure out your shade." She rambled on.

I sat there silently unless she asked me a question. I would mutter a 'Yes, I do look nice,' and 'I should have started make up earlier.' It went on until she found the right color for me. It seemed to be the lightest shade they had. Sweet now we can get away from her.

I muttered a "Thank you."

We went to where they kept the eyeliner and mascara. We picked out three colors of eyeliner, two mascaras, and a couple of lipsticks and lip liners to match. We left after that having already spent about two hundred dollars. I looked at her with amazement and hugged her happily.

"Thank you so much. You don't know how much this day means to me. I have never been close to anyone. I like being able to do this with someone." I said like a tween going through a magazine and noticing a picture of a hot guy.

After Ulta we went to Claire's for some jewelry. I got some necklaces and earrings. I loved everything I got there. We even got one of those necklaces that said daughter on one necklace and mom on the other. I put it on right after she bought it.

We went to a couple of clothing stores and bought some clothes. It was about 1 when we had lunch. I was in line for Panda Express when a girl walked right behind me that looked exactly like me except she had a shade darker hair. She say me looking at her and did a double check.

"Do I know you?" She asked a little weirded out.

"Not that I know of." I said flabbergasted at the sight in front of me.

"Is it just me or do we look alike as well?" She said suddenly

"Not just you. Definitely not just you." I said immediately.

Brenda came over too see what was the hold up and did a double check as well to make sure she wasn't loosing her mind.

"No you aren't going crazy." I quickly told Brenda.

"What is going on?" Brenda asked

"We have no clue." Me and the girl said at the same time. We looked at each other with shock then quickly hurried up in line to order our food so we could figure it out.

"Tina!" Somebody yelled in the distance. I looked at the girl sitting next to me.

"Who is that?" The girl who yelled asked pointing at me.

"This is Tay. We are thinking she might be my twin. We are also thinking we could have been separated at birth." Tina said now that it was said to someone else it kinda seemed far fetched.

"There are many possibilities on what the heck is going on." I said suddenly like that wasn't the only thing that could be going on.

"So, this is your mom?" Tina asked me.

"Umm." Was all I could say.

"No. I'm just her guardian." She said.

"Oh. So you are going through adoptive services?" Tina friend asked.

"No. Just a terrible accident." I immediately went to put my hand on my bullet wound.

"What kind of accident?" Tina asked. I looked at Brenda. She gave a slight nod.

I sighed and started at the beginning. And ended at the hospital. I choked up word after word. I felt relieved after I said everything. Like a weight was lifted. Brenda, Tina, and Tina's friend looked at me with sympathy. I leaned back in my chair and looked into space. Suddenly arms wrapped around me and I jumped from shock. I looked and saw Tina and her friend hugging me.

"I am so sorry. I feel so bad for you." Tina told me. Tears sprung in my eyes and I tried to blink them away.

I hugged them back like we were long lost friends.

"It's not your fault." I told her

"I know, but I feel like I should have been there for you." Tina said with tears in her eyes as well.

After we got up to clean up our lunch we went arm in arm to a couple more stores before heading over to our cars which so happened to be parked right next to each other. Brenda offered the girls to come over. Tina greatly accepted the offer. Tina's friend, whose name was Victoria, declined because she needed to babysit her brother.

"I will see you soon Tina. Make sure to make a grand entrance." I laughed.

I walked into our house and saw Brandon sitting on the front steps. I smiled a little. I walked over to him and sat down. I just sat there and looked at the sky until he poked my arm gently. I laughed and pushed his arm away. Tina's car pulled into the driveway and stepped out Tina. She smiled and waved at me. I smiled and waved back.

"Who's that?" Brandon asked.

"Brandon this is my twin sister Tina." I said and gestured towards Tina.
