your aunt stared at you with concern, worry scrunching her thick eyebrows together. again. you sat, hands pressed together, knees locked, gazing at the television.

this was abnormal behaviour. but she retreated back into the kitchen, sighing, because that would be the only time she saw a smile on your face.

"weird child," she mutters, the opening of the cartoon you watched filling the room. "sure to get me a noise complaint."

there was no easy way to wake you up, she had learnt.

"hey! hey! hey! hey! y/n! y/n! y/n! y/n!" she screeched at your sleeping form. no use. you were dead to the world.

your snores stopped, almost curiously, then continued. "mn..give me a minute, kasugai.." you mumbled between heavy breaths.

"i'm not your kasugah or whatever! get the fuck up!" she yelled into your ears, wrinkled fingers gripping your hair. any onlooker would have seen this as baseless child abuse, but this was quite literally the only way to get your eyes open.

your eyelids suddenly snapped open, eyelashes stuck together with sleep. your lips felt dry. "wah..i had the weirdest dream..! i was at schoo-"

"that was real, you idiot!"

your guardians harsh words never reached you, and you wandered over to the window with a dazed expression on your face. "look," you grinned sloppily, as if drugged. "look at that thing." your finger pointed at a parked car. as if it were something special.

"this has to be an author's mistake..t-there are no machines in the taisho era.." you whispered loudly, your voice shaky. your aunts eyes narrow, and she looks down.

yes, this was abnormal behaviour. but it was all to see you smile, wasn't it?
