Saturday

It was Saturday, and I was feeling a mix of excitement and nervousness as I prepared to meet up with the guy I met at the park. Shinso, ever the protective brother, insisted on walking me downtown and waiting until the guy showed up.

As we reached the meeting spot, Shinso gave me a reassuring smile. "Remember, if you need anything, just call me, okay?"

"Okay, Shinso," I nodded, grateful for his support.

I was wearing a light blue shirt tucked into a plaid skirt, with black tights underneath. The guy from the park arrived shortly after, and we introduced ourselves properly. His name was Hiroshi, and he seemed genuinely nice.

"Hey, Marinette," Hiroshi smiled. "Ready to go for a walk?"

"Yeah," I replied, my nerves easing a bit. "That sounds nice."

As we walked around, Hiroshi made an effort to keep the conversation light and engaging. He told me funny stories about his classmates and asked me about my hobbies. His relaxed demeanour helped me feel more comfortable, and I found myself laughing and enjoying the afternoon.

"Let's grab some ice cream," Hiroshi suggested after a while. "My treat."

"Sure," I agreed, smiling.

He led me to a nearby ice cream stand and went to get our order while I waited at a bench. As I looked around, taking in the lively atmosphere of downtown, I suddenly heard someone call my name.

"Marinette!"

I turned to see Bakugou walking towards me. He was dressed in a short-sleeved shirt over a long-sleeved one, cargo pants, and a cap. My heart skipped a beat at the sight of him.

"Bakugou," I greeted him with a smile. "What are you doing here?"

"I could ask you the same thing," he replied his tone a mix of curiosity and something else I couldn't quite place.

Before I could respond, Hiroshi returned with our ice creams. He handed one to me and then noticed Bakugou standing there.

"Who's this?" Bakugou asked, his eyes narrowing as he glared at Hiroshi.

"Oh, Bakugou, this is Hiroshi. He's... a new friend," I explained, feeling a bit awkward. "Hiroshi, this is Bakugou, a good friend of mine."

Hiroshi extended his hand politely, but Bakugou's glare only intensified. He clenched his fists, and I could see the tension building.

"I see," Bakugou muttered. "Well, enjoy your day."

With that, he turned and stormed off, leaving me feeling upset and worried about him.

"I'm sorry about that," I said to Hiroshi, my heart aching as I watched Bakugou walk away.

"It's okay," Hiroshi reassured me. "Everything will be fine. Let's just enjoy the rest of the day."

Despite Hiroshi's efforts to keep things light, I couldn't shake my concern for Bakugou. We continued our walk, and I tried to stay engaged in the conversation, but my mind kept drifting back to the scene with Bakugou.

As the day went on, Hiroshi and I visited a few more places, and he even won a small stuffed animal for me at a carnival game. He was sweet and considerate, and I appreciated his company, but the knot in my stomach wouldn't go away.

Bakugou's POV:

I was just out to get some groceries, trying to be productive on a Saturday. I didn't expect to see Marinette sitting on a bench, looking as cute as ever in a light blue shirt tucked into a plaid skirt with black tights. Her hair was in messy low pigtails, and she was smiling to herself, clearly enjoying the day.

I decided to go over and talk to her. I was drawn to her like a magnet, unable to resist the urge to be near her. "Marinette!" I called out as I approached.

She looked up, her eyes lighting up when she saw me. "Bakugou!"

"What are you doing here?" I asked, trying to keep my tone casual as I sat down next to her.

Before she could answer, a guy came over with two ice creams in hand. My stomach churned when I saw him. He handed one to Marinette, and I could feel my blood boiling. Who the hell was this guy?

"Who's this?" I demanded, glaring at the guy.

"Oh, Bakugou, this is Hiroshi," Marinette explained, looking a bit nervous. "He's... a new friend. Hiroshi, this is Bakugou, a good friend of mine."

Hiroshi extended his hand towards me, but I ignored it. "I see," I muttered, my fists clenching at my sides. The thought of Marinette spending time with some guy who wasn't me was infuriating. "Well, enjoy your day."

I turned on my heel and stormed off, my anger simmering just below the surface. How could she be out with this guy, looking so beautiful in that skirt, and not be with me? I was supposed to be the one making her smile, not some random guy.

Back at Height's Alliance, I couldn't shake off the jealousy that gnawed at me. I tried to focus on other things, but my mind kept drifting back to Marinette and Hiroshi. I spent the rest of the day stewing in my frustration, barely able to concentrate on anything else.

That night, I was lying in bed, still fuming, when my phone rang. It was Marinette. My heart skipped a beat, worry creeping in. What if she was in danger? I answered quickly. "Marinette?"

"Bakugou," she breathed, sounding relieved. "I... I wanted to talk to you about today."

I took a deep breath, trying to keep my voice steady. "What about it?"

"I didn't mean to upset you," she said softly. "Hiroshi is just a friend, and I wanted you to know that."

"Just a friend, huh?" I couldn't keep the bitterness out of my voice. The thought of her with someone else hurt more than I wanted to admit.

"Yes," she insisted. "You're important to me, Bakugou. I don't want you to feel like I'm replacing you."

Her words made my chest tighten. I sighed, the tension slowly easing. "I just... I worry about you, Marinette. I don't want anyone to hurt you."

"I know," she whispered. "And I appreciate that. But you have to trust me too."

"I do," I said quietly, feeling a bit ashamed of my jealousy. "I'm just... not used to this."

We talked for hours, the conversation shifting from our worries to lighter topics. Hearing her voice calmed me down, and I could tell she was trying to reassure me. As the night went on, we both started to relax, our usual banter and jokes making the tension fade away.

"Goodnight, Bakugou," she said, her voice warm and tender.

"Goodnight, Marinette," I replied, feeling a sense of peace wash over me.

As I lay in bed, I couldn't help but smile. Despite my jealousy and the confusion I felt, one thing was clear: Marinette meant the world to me, and I would do anything to protect her. Even if it meant accepting her new friends, as long as she was happy and safe, I could live with it. For now, I just wanted to hold on to the sound of her voice and the feeling of being her best friend, hoping that maybe, one day, it could be something more.
