Soon the distant noise of Ron straining to shift the rocks was gone. The tunnel turned and turned again. Every nerve in Harry's body was tingling unpleasantly. He wanted the tunnel to end, yet dreaded what he'd find when it did. And then, at last, as he crept around yet another bend, he saw a solid wall ahead on which two entwined serpents were carved, their eyes set with great, glinting emeralds
Harry approached, his throat parched. There was no need to imagine the stone snakes as real; their eyes seemed to flicker with life. He knew what he had to do. Clearing his throat, the emerald eyes appeared to shimmer. "Open," Harry whispered in a low, faint hiss. The serpents parted, the wall cracked open, and the halves slid smoothly away. Trembling, Harry stepped inside. He found himself at the end of a dimly lit, elongated chamber. Towering stone pillars, twined with more carved serpents, rose to support a ceiling shrouded in darkness, casting long shadows through the eerie, greenish haze that filled the space. With his heart racing, Harry listened to the chilling silence. Could the basilisk be hiding in a shadowy nook, behind a column? And where was Ginny? He drew his wand and proceeded between the serpentine pillars, each cautious step echoing off the shadow-laden walls.
"It hiding behind the pillar would have been preferable." Harry mutters to himself
"Your wand should have already been out."
His eyes remained narrowed, poised to snap shut at the slightest hint of motion. The empty eye sockets of the stone serpents appeared to track his every move.
"They do that in the common room."
On several occasions, he felt a stomach-churning sensation, believing he saw one twitch. Finally, as he aligned with the final set of pillars, a statue as tall as the Chamber itself emerged, stationed against the rear wall.
Harry had to tilt his head back to gaze at the colossal face above him: It was ancient and simian, with a lengthy, slender beard that cascaded down to the wizard's flowing stone robes, where two vast grey feet were planted on the smooth floor of the Chamber.
"Sounds like Salazar alright." Loki says
Between those feet, face down, was a diminutive figure in black robes with fiery red hair. "Ginny!" Harry whispered, racing towards her and kneeling down. "Ginny, don't be dead, please don't be dead," he pleaded, tossing his wand aside, seizing Ginny's shoulders, and gently rolling her over.
"You don't throw your only weapon away, there's a basilisk down there." Thor surprisingly lectures the teen
Her complexion was as pale and cold as marble, yet her eyes were shut, indicating she wasn't Petrified. But then, she had to be... "Ginny, please wake up," Harry implored, shaking her slightly. Ginny's head swayed limply. "She won't awaken," a soft voice declared.
Harry and Ginny tense up, knowing who that was
Harry leapt up, whirling around on his knees. A tall boy with black hair was propped against the closest pillar, observing. He appeared indistinct at the edges, as if seen through a foggy pane. Yet, it was unmistakably him.
Loki, Strange and Thor looked at each other, knowing what this could mean
"Tom - Tom Riddle?" Harry questioned. Riddle gave a nod, his gaze fixed on Harry.
"How could he be down there, he was in that school 50 years ago."
"What do you mean, she won't awaken?" Harry asked frantically. "She's not - she can't be -?" "She's alive," Riddle confirmed. "But barely." Harry scrutinized him. Tom Riddle had been at Hogwarts fifty years prior, but there he was, bathed in an eerie, ethereal glow, looking no older than sixteen. "Are you a ghost?" Harry inquired, filled with doubt.
