It took several days for both brothers to adjust to their unusual newfound freedom. For the first time, they could wake up at tjeir leisure and eat whatever they craved. They were free to explore as they wished, provided they stayed within Diagon Alley. Given that this extensive cobbled street brimmed with the most intriguing wizarding shops globally, neither Jason nor Harry did not incline to go back on their promise to Fudge by venturing into the Muggle world.
"I understand that." Cooper Barton mutters, he loved his family, he really did but the magical world excited him, maybe when he was a fully trained wizard his dad would allow him to join the Avengers
They had breakfast every morning at the Leaky Cauldron, enjoying the view of other guests: quaint witches from the countryside in for a day of shopping; distinguished wizards debating the newest piece in Transfiguration Today; untamed warlocks; boisterous dwarves; and on one occasion, a figure that closely resembled a hag, discreetly ordering a plate of raw liver while concealed behind a thick woolen balaclava.
After breakfast, they would step into the backyard, withdraw their wands, and tap the third brick from the left above the trash bin. They would then step back as an archway to Diagon Alley formed in the wall.
They spent the long, sunny days wandering through shops and dining under the vibrant umbrellas outside cafes.
Some days, Jason would wait for Harry to fall asleep before taking the invisibility cloak and sneaking off to Knockturn Alley, where he found almost all the ingredients except for a death hawk, he couldn't find one of those anywhere.
"You didn't have to sneak around; you could have told me." Harry mutters, a little upset his brother didn't trust him enough to tell him what he was trying to do
The other customers were either flaunting their latest acquisitions ("Behold the lunascope, old chap—no more need for those moon charts, see?") or debating Sirius Black's whereabouts ("I, for one, won't let the kids out by themselves until he's safely back in Azkaban"). The times when they had to huddle under their covers with a torch to do their homework were long gone; now, they could bask in the pleasant sunshine outside Florean Fortescue's Ice Cream Parlor, working on their essays with occasional guidance from Florean Fortescue himself. Fortescue, an expert on medieval witchcraft trials, also indulged Harry and Jason with complimentary sundaes every half hour.
After they replenished their money bag with gold Galleons, silver Sickles, and bronze Knuts at Gringotts, Harry having to drag Jason away from the sword in their vault, they had to muster considerable self-control to avoid spending it all immediately. They constantly reminded themselves of the five remaining years at Hogwarts and the humiliation of asking the Dursleys for spellbook money to prevent splurging on a luxurious set of solid gold Gobstones—a wizarding game similar to marbles where the stones emit an unpleasant liquid upon losing a point. The temptation grew with the sight of a flawless, moving model of the galaxy encased in a large glass orb, which promised an end to Astronomy lessons. Yet, it was the display at Quality Quidditch Supplies, his beloved store, that truly challenged Harry's resolve, just a week after their arrival at the Leaky Cauldron.
"Did we never teach you that there's more money than just your school vault?" Sirius asks in realization as both boys shook their head.
"Where do you think all of that money comes from? It refills every year from the main Potter Vault and the Black vault, since Harry is my Godson." Sirius says as he facepalmed at his own stupidity "You two could literally buy everything in Diagon Alley and the shops ten times over and it wouldn't put a dent in the money in either the Potter or Black Vault. The Potters and Blacks are some of the richest families in Magical Britian. I think Lily did the math for the Potter Vault one day and came up with about 250 billion British pounds if they converted all of the gold. Granted the Malfoy and other members of the Sacred 28 are richer. Honestly the next three generations of Potters don't have to work at all and they could still live comfortably." Sirius muses
