Friday the 14th of june

The next day, i arrive at the book store at 11 pm, just as the "big boss" had said when she gave me the job.

Tyler is already there when I arrive. I can tell, because I spot his motorcycle on the other side of the  street.

I'm greeted the second the bell on the door rings. Only by voice though.

"Morning!" I hear from the back, what I assume is a storage room. I follow the voice through the store.

I find Tyler with a box on his back while standing on a ladder.

"Morniiiing" I say, smiling when he looks at me.

Tyler suddenly starts to loose his balance.

"Could you lend me a hand please?" He says, trying to stabalise himself.

I run over to him, using all of my force trying to hold the ladder still.

"Super" he grunts, lifting the box over his head and placing it on the top shelf. "Thanks, probably would have ended up with a broken leg or something if you weren't here!" He laughs.

"Anytime" i reply, fixing my posture.

There's a moment of silence.

" alright, let's get started then." Tyler announces.

I follow him back to the store.

"There's not really much to do, Thursdays are the quietest." He rests his hands on his hips. "I guess you could need some experience. That way you could help customers better." He smiles jokingly.

Wait...

"You want me to read?"

He nods confidently.

"Oh, no I don't read. I'm not a reader."

He shrugs, "can't say that without even trying"

I let out a sigh, a "alright fine, go ahead" type of sigh.

"Give me two seconds"

As I wait, I find a shelf of, you guessed it, books. I lead my finger along the backs of them. Some must be older than Lili Beth, the oldest woman in town, and some of them are fairly new. All have a trim of dust on the top.

"Here" Tyler says as he returns around the corner. It's a red leather book labled as "Little Women" by Louisa May Alcott. It's really thick as well. Thicker than any book I've ever read.

"Do you really expect me to finish this?? This is like 2000 pages!" I complain, raising my eyebrows.

"I think you'll love it" he laughs. "You just need to really put yourself into the story."

I give him a weird look. "Fine"

then Tyler walks back to the storage room, and I sit down in the chair I had my interview in.

Before starting the book, I can't help but check my phone.
