Diona POV
It's been three weeks since the shocking revelation. I have been doing what a normal baby does. Which is sleeping and eating....... and pooping.
After listening to the "conversation" I pulled myself together. After the initial shock had receded and I figured out that I was safe for the time being, I relaxed my guard a bit.
I was literally a newborn so worrying about the problems that I could not solve would only make me uselessly paranoid. But what I did do in the last three weeks was to arrange all the information I knew about TET.
'THE ETERNAL THRONE' or TET in short, was set up in the fantastical world of Arcadia.
The story takes place in the Central continent of Dragomir, where Astariol Empire is located. It is said that the rulers of the Astariol Empire were the descendants of the Dragon. Moving on, the origin of the world was not explored that much as the story was a court intrigue.
The story is from the point of views of Vanessa, the female lead and Killian, the male lead.
Vanessa was the 1st princess of the Lumiere kingdom. Her mother was the Queen of Lumiere, however she died during childbirth, and for whatever reason the King blamed Vanessa for it(Why couldn't he go to therapy?Ah! maybe because it did not exist?Note to self, introduce therapy).
The King loved the Queen and couldn't bear her loss. He brought in a lookalike of the Queen and married her( Such a cliche move. I mean, there were a million things he could've done but he brings a lookalike.)
The lookalike, slowly took control of the palace and the King. She fueled his hatred for Vanessa as she wanted her own child to take the throne( And I wanted to live for a hundred years but did that happen? No!).
The throne belonged to Vanessa as she was the firstborn and the Lumiere Kingdom followed the law of firstborn succession. At one hand the fake queen pushed the King to hate Vanessa and on the other she tried to break Vanessa's spirit.
Needles to say, Vanessa was abused. However, Vanessa did not break, on the contrary, after being abused for so long she snapped! From the age of 16, her coming of age ceremony, she started to push back.(Yay! one female lead who broke the damsel in distress cliche. One of the reasons why the book was famous as hell.)
The replacement that was brought in by the King also gave him a child, a son.The son, Vanessa's half-brother Salvatore.
Salvatore unlike his mother had no interest in throne. On the contrary, he had a really good relationship with Vanessa. He loved and respected Vanessa as a sister. He even put up a facade of being a trash human being so the court would not consider him as a prospective ruler. (He was an amazon forest. A golden retriever. The amounts of edits booksta had for him was insane. His fan following rivaled Killian's)
Vanessa, slowly started snatching power from the King. Salvatore also helped her. His trash behavior pushed the important members of the court right into Vanessa's direction.
The Trash King and the fake Queen( there nicknames) were scared of Vanessa's growing power. It did not help their case that Vanessa had inherited the Monarch's gift in its fullest capacity.
Monarch's gift, were powers that were bestowed upon the ruling families of the continent. Every ruling family had a power that was inherited in some form by their heirs. However, the gift manifested in different ways. It could be passive, aggressive or both.
For example, the Lumiere royal family had the gift to control light.
The first King could erect forcefields with the power of light. His power could be said to be passive. On the other hand, his successor could destroy cities with his highly destructive light beams. While Vanessa could create weapons and shields from light. (Sort of like Dagger from MCU.) Her powers were both passive and aggressive.
