I Blew Myself Up. No! Seriously I did.

"Mission accomplished", Secret agent Rei spoke into her mouth piece, staring down at a corpse which had a bullet in its head, it's hand was bent at an unnatural angle like someone had broken it. All around, corpses were lying in a similar situation. She was covered in blood and dirt.
There was no doubt, she was the who had killed these men, and she wasn't feeling even a little bit of remorse. The reason being that the corpses( which were alive people a few hours ago) , were terrorists. This organisation had been a thorn on their side for a long time. Thanks to them she was working overtime.

"Well, one cannot complain when people's lives are at stake", she mumbled to herself but sure enough, her partner at the other side of the comm link heard her.

"Complaining again? Rei, do you want your working hour increased?" A female voice replied from the other side of the link.

"Not a word, Maya! You know that I have not taken a single day off since the day I started working, and after so many years, when I finally ask for vacation, they allow me and then they call me back in the middle of the said vacation. The audacity! ", Rei murmured furiously.

"Sorry, by the way, what did you do during your vacation?Maya asked trying to change the topic while trying and failing to disguise her chuckle.

"I read fantasy novels", Rei replied calmly

"......What?" , After a second of pause Maya asked in a dumbfounded tone.

"I read Fantasy novel. Do you have a problem with that?"Rei asked calmly.

"Pfffft....", Mizuki burst into laughter

"What is so funny about it ?" Rei said in a slightly angry tone to a still hysterically laughing Mizuki.

"No nothing just thinking that the most feared agent of all time,The ' slaughter queen ' reads fantasy novels during her free time", Mizuki said trying to suppress her laughter again.

"Forget it. Just tell me the exit plan. I wish to go home and continue with my TBR list. I have just finished one of the most anticipated reads of this year and I quite liked it. I think I will look for more books like that. Do wish to know the synopsis?",Rei asked, with unusual amount of enthusiasm seeping into her normally flat voice.

"No , I don't wish to know about your novel. As for the exit plan go straight and turn left. There will be a window on the right side of the wall. Use it as an escape. You will find yourself in a forest clearing .Our chopper should reach you in about 10 minutes." Maya replied. She was back in her mission mode.

Rei followed her partner's instructions and was waiting for the chopper. There was no sign of any helicopter around,when suddenly she heard footsteps. Sensing someone's presence in the woods, she quickly climbed a nearby tree for a better view and a better hiding spot. Just as she had suspected she was surrounded by men. All of them were armed. It was clear that they were expecting her or someone there. She realised that there were some 50 men surrounding her.
With this discovery Rei also realised that she will not be able to leave this place alive today. However there was also one more thing that she had figured out. Something that she desperately wished to be false but was true.

Very calmly, Rei said into her comm link. "Why? ".

It was just one word. One question. However, it was laced with pain. As Rei had come to a painful realisation that her partner of 10 years, with whom she had been through thick and thin, whom she had saved and who had saved her too many times to count had betrayed her.

" I am sorry Rei , but you are destined to die young." Maya said in a strange monotonous calm tone. It was as if someone else was speaking through her. Rei did not have the time to ponder over this phenomenon. Too hurt by her partner's betrayal she had no time to notice her irregularity. The only thing she knew was that she was surrounded and about to die.

She was hurt , however she also knew that she would not be able to leave this place alive. At that moment a suicidal but effective plan was formulated in her brain. She thought that if she was going to die, all of them were coming to Hell with her. After finishing the preparation for her plan,
she calmly got down from the tree and said. "Quite the entourage you people have brought in to greet me. Should I feel honored? I guess I should. "

As soon as she was finished speaking the men in her surroundings revealed themselves. All fifty of them, wearing combat gear and holding rifles in their hands. They had surrounded her in the few minutes that she had given herself for the preparation of her plan. All of them were wearing joker masks. A sign of there affiliation with there terrorrist organization.

One of them, the leader, Rei assumed, came forward and said " The slaughter queen herself took the pains to grace us with her presence,how dare we neglect our preparations."

Rei ignoring the reference to her nickname and simply looked at them with her signature poker face. She slightly lifted her hand revealing a small remote control in her hand.

"Sorry guys, but you see if I am going down, you people are coming with me".Rei said in a cold and detached voice, which held a bit of ridicule in it. With that declaration she pressed the button.

It was too late for the leader to realize that the vest she was wearing was strapped with explosives. Before he could even make a sound there was a deafening explosion, as a sea of fire engulfed them all, killing them on spot, without giving them even the time to scream.
