"If I can never get you to answer your phone, I always know where you'll be." A familiar voice chuckled, immediately catching Vena off guard the moment she'd entered the memory.
It took her a moment to get her bearings and realize where she even was.
Scaramouche waltzed down the stairs of the bar, hands up and gesturing widely as he made his way over to Xiao who was currently engaged in a game of cards with another scruff looking gentleman.
Xiao simply raised his head, giving a single nod of recognition as he laid his cards down on the table in front of him.
"I try to return your call, and you ghost me for a game of cards? What was so urgent that you needed to ask me in person, hmm?" Scara seemed mildly irritated, slumping into another chair at the table without even bothering to awknowledge the other man's presence.
"Let's finish this game next time, yeah?" Xiao tightly smiled at the man seated across from him, gesturing a hand over toward the stairs, implying he leave.
The unknown man simply gave a nod before looking between Scara and Xiao, quietly deciding that would be for the best as he stood to his feet to gather his things and leave.
Vena replaced him, eager to hear whatever conversation would be going on between these two.
She knew Scaramouche was a close friend of Xiao's, but other than that, she didn't know much at all.
Xiao huffed out a breath, his voice lowering as he leaned across the table toward Scara before asking his question.
"What do you know about the Book of Enoch?"
Clearly something, considering the random spark of curiosity that was now lit in Scara's eyes, his eyebrows raising high.
"Not much other than it's a load of bullshit." Came the indigo haired man's curt laugh, giving a hard roll of his eyes.
"And if it's not?" Xiao challenged.
"It's a rumor, been around for god knows how long. I doubt any of us have even gotten to see the book's cover, let alone actually read it. You can't kill a Nephilim anyway, they're immortal. You brought me back to this city for that?"
"I have two choices. One, save a human life and become a guardian again, or two, kill a Nephilim vessel and become human." Xiao stated it matter of factly, his features sharp and serious.
"And yet you know what your easiest choice is... If there even is a way to kill a Nephilim, we don't know what it is. You're wasting your time. Do you even know of a human who's close to deaths door, either? Both options seem impossible." The blue haired man gave a harsh laugh, clearly knowing the reality of both situations.
Neither seemed easy in his eyes.
"I do." Xiao spoke flatly, watching as Scara raised his arms over his head, stretching and letting out a yawn.
Dark eyes focused back on his best friend, a spark of curiosity now in them, intrigued.
"Oh? Do tell." Scara leaned back in his chair, arms going to cross his chest as he smiled devilishly.
Maybe at least one option was possible after all.
Xiao's expression gave nothing away, and he remained silent, obviously thinking something over in his head before speaking.
"You've met them before already, haven't you?" Scara smiled wide, pearly white teeth on full display.
Xiao simply gave a nod of his head.
