"I thought even fallen angels couldn't die?"

"We can't die of natural causes, and our bodies are extremely resilient, we'll heal from a lot of things most humans won't. Except a bullet to the heart."

Vena was thinking back on the conversation as she finished getting ready for Childe's party.

So, they're pretty much immortal unless their heart is destroyed. It didn't take a brain surgeon to deduce how they'd figured that little fact out.

Xiao's eyes had looked so sad, so pained, Vena hadn't really seen that level of emotion from him before.

It definitely tugged at the heart strings, knowing he'd felt the intensity of loss just like she had, and in such a violent way too.

A knock came from her front door, and judging by the time, it was definitely Rae.

Looking through the peephole, she confirmed it just in case, swinging the door open with a smile on her face.

"Jesus, girl- who are you dressing up all cute for? I'm gonna be swatting people away from you all night looking like that." Rae gushed over Vena's outfit, which just consisted of her typical clothing honestly.

A black skirt that was cut on the side of one leg so some thigh was showing, a plain yet form fitting black shirt that had a window in the chest, so a classy amount of cleavage was showing, and just her fishnets and black boots like usual.

"Look who's talking," Vena playfully flirted back, always happy and smiling whenever Rae was around.

"Bitch, you're showing boobs AND legs?! You're a woman after my own heart!" The blonde theatrically put the back of her hand to her forehead as if faking that she was going to pass out.

The two continued talking as they got into Rae's car, finally leaving toward their destination.

"Oh yeah, I sent Kazuha the address and told him to come too. He's my plus-one." Vena played it off perfectly, despite the statement still being true either way.

She just didn't mention why Kazuha was her plus-one or why she'd invited him instead of Xiao.

Maybe it was to see if a certain red-head had any reaction to seeing a student from his former school. Considering he was a potential suspect in a murder case related to said school.

On top of that, she hadn't seen Kaz in a while and figured it would be fun. The more the merrier, right?

"Oh cool, tonight's gonna be so much fun." Rae was clearly excited. She hadn't stopped smiling since Vena had opened the door.

"Honestly, I figured you'd bring Xiao." A teasing tone had taken over Rae's voice, taking her eyes off the road just long enough to send her best friend a sly smile.

Oh, right. Rae had no idea everything that had happened in the past few days.

And honestly, it may be better that way.

It made her stomach twist thinking about ever hiding anything from Rae, but... this wasn't even her secret to tell anymore, and she wasn't sure if bringing Rae into that world was a good idea.

She didn't even really want to be apart of it.

Deciding the risk was too great, the girl chose to keep her lips sealed, despite how wrong it felt.

"He drives me nuts, I'd like to actually try and enjoy tonight, thank you very much." Vena joked, huffing a laugh through her nose.

"Riiiiight, riiiiiight," Rae sounded as if she doubted that.
