The sound of a door opening reached Vena's ears, a simple signal that sent her heartbeat racing almost immediately.

"Maya..? What the hell are you doing here?" Scara's voice was faint considering the distance, yet it wasn't difficult to hear the edge in his voice, clearly a very good actor even when under pressure.

Vena's hand tightened around the hilt of her knife, her resolve only strengthening at the sound of Maya's voice.

"Me? Why are you here? I figured Xiao and I would get some alone time finally." Maya countered, clearly irritated at the sight of Scara being the one to let her into the employee only rooms.

"You and Xiao? Like as a thing? No shot in hell would he give you another chance." Scara could be heard scoffing in defiance, accompanied by the sound of women's heels clinking against the hard wood floors.

"It's true!" Maya hissed out.

"He text me telling me he wanted to talk things out and that he made a mistake with Vena. See, look-" The woman presumably showed Scara the text message on her phone, wanting to prove herself.

"...He's lost his damn mind..." Scara said lowly, being sure to play his part and lace his voice with venom.

"Whatever, just get the hell away from me. He's in one of the bedrooms. Go down the hallway, last door on the right." The man grumbled angrily, obviously a phenomenal actor.

"Thanks." Maya sarcastically sang out, the sound of her heels approaching steadily as she followed Scara's directions without a second thought.

You can do this. No backing down.

Every muscle in Vena's body was clenched tight, hardened by anxiety and adrenaline as the sound only got louder and louder, up until the woman waltzed right past the open door frame Vena had been hiding in, waiting for the perfect time to strike.

Springing into action, Vena sunk the blade hilt-deep into the exact area Scara had shown her prior, while they'd been planning this entire scheme beforehand.

Maya let out an ear-piercing scream, immediately collapsing onto one knee, her hands catching herself on the floor before she could land directly on her face.

Vena yanked her knife out harshly, darkly taking mild satisfaction in the way Maya yelped out in pain again before gritting her teeth, seething as her breathing only became more shallow by the second.

Blood dripped from the tip of the knife onto the floor, still not making the violet haired girl feel even the least bit guilty as Scara could be heard trotting up beside her now, clapping his hands together at the sight before him.

"Good aim, V. Right in the wing scars." Scaramouche mused, coming over to crouch down in front of Maya, leaning his head to the side as he grinned devilishly, clearly enjoying the sight of the woman before him practically paralyzed and in excruciating pain.

"What the hell is going on?" Maya hissed through clenched teeth, still unable to move from her kneeling position on the ground, even as Scara came up behind her and slapped an odd looking pair of handcuffs across her wrists.

"We just want to have a little chat with you, that's all." Scara proceeded to hum, the underlying tone hinting at sarcasm and deception as he yanked her up by the cuffs to her feet and began leading her back toward the main room.

Vena followed silently behind, heart still pounding even still at what she'd done, mildly surprised at how she barely even felt the twinge of guilt hidden deep in her stomach now.

"So you're resorting to teaching disgusting little humans our weaknesses? One day you'll regret that when she decides to use it against you." Maya spit out, breathing still ragged and heavy even as Scara shoved her down into a nearby chair.
