GWEN AND I were walking into Oscorp and to the elevators when one of the doors started to close.

Usually that wouldn't be an issue, but we were running just a little bit late.

"Oh, hold that!" Gwen called out. "Can you hold that, please?"

The man inside the elevator held out his hand and the doors retracted back open.

"I got it."

"Thank you." I smiled after exhaling once we were inside.

"Yes. Thank you, you're a real gentleman." Gwen complimented. "Most people would've just let those close."

"Most people don't notice other people." The man said.

"What floor, please?" The robotic voice from the elevator spoke.

"Sixty-three-" I started, but the man cut me off.

"I got it. I got it. What is it?"

"Um, it's sixty-three." I told him, glancing to Gwen when he looked away.

"Sixty-three, please."

"Thank you."

"In a hurry."

"Thank you." Gwen and I spoke in unison and the elevator started to move.

"Um, I'm Max. Max Dillon." The man introduced.

"I'm Gwen. And this is Y/N." Gwen told him and I offered a polite smile.

"Nice to meet you."

"Nice to meet you."

I looked down at the paper in Max's hand and back at him. "Is today your birthday?"

He looked shocked at first before looking down at his hands. "Oh, yeah. Well, I- They- Friends of mine made this flyer up. I'm having a birthday party at a big club. A lot of celebrities."

"Wow."

"Would love to invite you guys, it's just that the guest list is closed." He explained.

"Oh, got it. Got it." I nodded. I was pretty sure he was lying, but who knows?

"Well, thank you anyway." Gwen smiled.

The small screen in the elevator stole my attention when a news story about Spider-Man appeared.

I just stared up at the screen and thought about the boy behind the mask.
