PART TWO
A Fresh Start

" y/n's point of view "

I HAD DECIDED.

Gwen had gone for her final interview for Oxford and I had decided that I was going to go to England with her.

I just wanted a fresh start. A new place where I could try new things and meet new people instead of going to the same 3 restaurants I had for my entire life and only loving one very complicated boy who just wouldn't leave my mind.

It wasn't like I couldn't ever come back. If I didn't like it there or wanted to come back, I could.

I just wanted a chance to try something.

And, of course, just as my contemplating was coming to an end, Peter suddenly appeared at my bedroom window.

I thought about not letting him in. But, of course, I did anyway.

"Y/N, everything's a mess. Everything's insane." He started speaking very, very quickly the moment the window was opened and was inside my room in seconds. "My dad, my mom. Everything I thought about them? Lies. Lies. Lies, lies, lies. Nothing makes anymore sense anymore."

He started pacing the room and I just watched.

"Now here we are. I gotta figure out what I'm gonna do with Harry. Because of course I wanna save him. You know? I wanna save him because he's my best pal. And- And what if my blood works? But what if it doesn't? I don't know. I got no idea."

He started chuckling and looking in my direction before covering his face with his hands.

"I got nothing. I got nothing. The only thing I keep coming back to, Y/N is..." He sighed, and didn't go on. He hesitated.

"Peter, take a breath." I told him, putting my hands on his shoulders.

"No, no, no, I can't. I-" He started again, but I cut him off.

"Peter. You need to slow down. I have no idea what you're saying."

"You-" He started, then sighed.  "I'm..."

Then he stopped and just started silently. Before shaking his head and shrugging.

"I don't know." He covered his face again. "I have no idea what I'm going to do."

There was a gap of silence between us. Not a word was said, and there was a lack of eye contact.

"Peter. I should... probably tell you." I took a deep breath and he stepped closer to me.

"What?"

"I've decided. Gwen's at her final interview for Oxford, and if she gets in I am going to move to England with her. It's important to her, and getting a fresh start somewhere new is important to me."

Peter looked almost hurt when he asked me: "What about you and me? Us. Together."

"I don't know, Peter. I don't know." I shook my head. "Maybe we're just not right for each other. Maybe we just shouldn't be together. I don't know, Peter. I don't know either."

Peter didn't move at first. Then he started nodding.

"Right." He looked around the room, like he was only just noticing how we had been packing up. "Right. Yeah. Um, I better... Better go. Tell Gwen I said, uh, good luck."

He then left my bedroom, going back out the window without another word.

IT WAS JUST a few days later when Gwen found out she got in. And when she heard about some special summer class thing she could start as soon as possible, of course she was just bouncing off the walls.

And I told her I was going to go with her.

By the time we were all packed and ready to go, I contemplated going to see Peter.

"Y/N, we're leaving tonight. You should go see him." Gwen told me and I nodded. "Y'know, to say goodbye."

"Yeah. Yeah, sure."

And so I walked all the way to his house, only for his Aunt May to open the door and tell me he wasn't home.

So there went that idea.

When Gwen and I were getting into the taxi, I decided to call him.

It went straight to voicemail, of course. Because why wouldn't it?

So I decided to leave him a message, because I needed to tell him I was leaving early. He deserved to know.

"Um, hi, Peter, it's- it's me." I started before taking a deep breath. "Uh, so, Gwen got into Oxford. Which is very exciting. She's excited, I'm excited, Mom's excited..."

The car started to move and I shared an excited look with Gwen.

"Uh, I went to your house, like, an hour ago or something and I... You weren't there." I frowned as I got up, grabbing some of my bags as we carried them to the front elevator. "So Gwen and I are, um, going to the airport right now because there's this, uh, early summer class that she found out about and, um... I know I wasn't going to leave this early originally, but I thought... um..."

Gwen looked over at me and watched as I sighed.

"I thought, maybe, that it's time for us to... let this go. And it's not because I don't love you, Peter. Because I really do. It's because I do love you. So, um... Yeah, okay, bye."

I ended the message and slipped my phone into my pocket, offering Gwen a smile.

She patted my leg and that was it.
