Lin scribbled down all the ideas in his head.

He sat back in his chair and rubbed his neck wincing. Moving it from side to side it gave a reassuring crack.
He took a drink of his water and stood up, glancing at the clock.

"Jesus! 7 already! No wonder I'm creaking like an old rocking chair."
He picked up his empty glass and tidied the papers away.

"12 hours writing is enough for anyone."
He smiled as he heard Alicia moving about in the kitchen.
It made his working day so much easier and so much harder in equal measure.
He couldn't wait to finish and see her, but there was so much comfort in knowing she was there, he was able to relax and really concentrate. He looked back at the music score. He had a really good feeling about this one.

He lifted his head and frowned.
He could hear her singing to a song on the radio and suddenly realised he hadn't heard her before.

He moved closer to the door and stood quietly listening.

"Rows and Floes of angel hair, and ice cream castles in the air...."

He was frozen to the spot.

".....Tears and fears and feeling proud....."

He recognised 'Both Sides now' his hand flew to his chest, his heart feeling as though it was going to explode.
He opened the door.

"Alicia."

She stopped singing and turned to him.

"Shit! Did I interrupt your work? My mom used to sing this all the time. It's one of my favourites. Sorry!"

He walked to her. "No, you didn't interrupt anything. You've got a beautiful voice."

"Stop!"

"Hey. I'm being serious. Come with me."

He led her back into his office
"Ok. Stand here for me."
He sat down at the piano and started to play the song.

Alicia shook her head. "I can't! I'm too embarrassed."

"I'll sing with you."
He started again and sang, Alicia joined in hesitantly at first but slowly her confidence increased.

Lin quickly pressed record as she sang, not skipping a note as he carried on playing.

"........ I've looked at clouds from both sides now, from up and down and still somehow........."

He felt his heart aching with pride as she hit each note perfectly. Tears running down his face.

"........ I really don't know life, I really don't know life. At all."

The song finished and Lin looked at her.

"I love you."

"I love you too."
She turned as something clicked.
"Wait! Are you recording? Lin! Turn it off!"

He laughed as he leaned over and pressed stop.

He stood up and put his arms round her. His feelings spiralling out of control he held her so tightly she gasped.
"Lin? Everything ok?"
She touched his face and felt the tears rolling down.
"Hey What's wrong?"

He shook his head quickly.
"Nothing is wrong. Lis. Marry me."

"Marry y... what? Are you joking?"

"I kind of had a plan to ask you in some grand gesture kind of way but I don't want to wait. I can't wait. I love you. Marry me?
Next weekend."

"Next weekend?! Lin! Are you serious?"

"Yes. Never been more so. I don't want a grand wedding. Let's go to Vegas, just the two of us. I want you with me. Forever. Marry me?"
