Pulling on a light yellow sundress, I went down stairs in search of Bailey. I needed a distraction from the funk I was in. Relief washed through me when I found her and Connor in the living room laughing.
"What's so funny?"
Bailey turned and laughed, "Connor is telling me about his latest conquest."
Plopping down next to her I laughed, "What STD did he get this time."
Connor rolling his eyes, "Shut up you two. She was hot and a virgin."
"So that's how you stay clean? You're a card stealer!"
Bailey laughed, "She pegged you!"
"Whatever!" He rolled his eyes, "So what does the Alpha have planned for you tonight Jo?"
"Nothing. He has to be an Alpha today."
Bailey frowned, "Stuff up north?"
"Yes."
She sighed.
"Does this happen a lot."
"Not normally this often. I mean two trips in one day is..." She shrugged, "I don't know."
"Should I go help?"
She shook her head, "No that would just make him more on edge. You're safe here, he needs to know you're safe."
"It's very hard to just sit here."
She smiled sympathetically, "Then let's get you distracted. Wanna help me make dinner? We can cook Josh's favorite."
"Sure. What's his favorite?"
She smiled and pulled me to the kitchen, "Homemade crunch wraps and mango smoothies."
I couldn't help but laugh, "Really?"
She nodded and began to pull out all the stuff we would need. Together, we quickly started to prepare dinner. We worked very well together. Connor sat at the counter and helped cut vegetables as we laughed. For a second, they had me distracted but I still had an uneasy feeling in the pit of my stomach. Something was off.
Bailey pulled me back out of my thoughts. "So what happens when you see the future?"
I laughed and shrugged, "What do you mean?"
"Like what happens to you? What do you see?"
I sighed, "Well my vision goes blurry, I get a bad headache, my eyes bleed and then I see wolves dying. There is nothing spectacular about it."
Her eyes widened, "You mean you actually see them die?"
"Yes, it's all I see."
She shuddered, "How do you sleep at night?"
"Not very well unless I'm with your brother."
Connor smirked, "Awe. How cute is that?"
I rolled my eyes and tossed a piece of tomato at him, "I can't wait until you find your mate and have to go through all this teasing."
"When I find my mate, we won't be leaving the bedroom for a month." He smirked and tossed an onion at me.
"I hope she makes you wait a year."
He smirked, "She couldn't resist me for a year."
Bailey bursted into laughter, "That's what you said to me when puberty hit. Look at us now."
He rolled his eyes, "Is Kyle coming tonight?"
Guilt washed through me, "I think he might be avoiding Josh."
Connor looked amused, "Why?"
"He may have broken my jaw in a sparring match today."
Bailey gasped, "What?"
I shrugged, "I'm fine. It's just Josh saw it and got angry."
Connor looked amazed, "He left Kyle in one piece?"
"Of course. I couldn't let them fight over something so stupid and small."
Bailey laughed, "You got him to calm down and not kill Kyle...That's amazing."
I shrugged, "Josh loves Kyle, he would never kill him."
They looked at me funny. Connor shook his head, "Alpha doesn't love anyone but Bay and you Jo."
I shook my head, "Then you are blind Connor."
As he went to say something, my eyes began to burn. I dropped the knife in my hand and felt the blood drip from my eyes. They both stared at me in complete shock before my vision was taken from me and I went crashing onto the floor.

My heart stopped when it was Josh who stood before me in my vision. There were at least six dead bodies around him and ten more wolves headed his way. My heart ached when I realized they were hybrids. Forced to watch the coming future, I became nauseous as I watched life unfold before me.
Josh was stronger than I could have imagined. He took two out with ease but one was able to scratch him across the shoulder blade. I could feel him weaken with the venom. Three more came for him but he managed to rip the head off of one. The other two came from behind and shoved him to the ground, scratching him.
He exploded into his wolf, knocking them off him. They whimpered away under his massive frame but the rest attacked and even Josh couldn't fight them all at once. Watching as they clawed and bit him, releasing their venom, my heart began to break. Slowly he fell to his knees, his heart barely pumping. Just as one went for the kill, Maya stepped out into the forest.
"Enough! Make him suffer." Her energy was different, harder than the last time I had seen her. She knelt down beside Josh and ran her slender fingers through his hair, "Now we're even."
As she stood and walked away, Josh breathed in one last breath before his heart stopped and my vision was mine again.

I blinked away the haze to find Connor and Bailey looking at me in a panic. Feeling a wave of nausea, I rushed to the bathroom in tears and threw up. That was the worst vision I had ever seen. Again and again my body emptied itself at an attempt to rid the the horrifying emotions running through me. I needed to pull myself together, I didn't have much time, the vision was close. Forcing open a connection with Josh, i sighed when he was still alive. Get out of there!
I'm fine baby. Just took down some rouges.
No. I had a vision there are more! Get out!
Okay.
My vision didn't change, they would still find him, he would still die.
