"You know, a dog is not a replacement for a human being," George stated, pulling on his white coat in the locker room. The interns were busy getting ready for their morning.
"But dogs are better than human beings," Blake disagreed, pulling her hair out of the back of the white coat. George stared at her with narrowed eyes while Cristina and Meredith nodded in agreement.
"You guys better wake her," Alex suggested, nudging his head in Izzie's direction. The blonde had fallen asleep in the corner of the locker room after staying up all night to look after the quintuplets. "If Bailey catches her sleeping, she's dead."
"Izzie," Cristina called out, but there was no response coming from the blonde so she kicked her leg while Blake shot an extra hair tie at her face. "Izzie."
"Damn it—what?" Izzie snapped, glaring daggers at the other interns.
Cristina had a rather triumphant grin on her face. "Hell hath no fury like a girl whose non-boyfriend screws a nurse," she joked.
"Bitch."
"I like you bitter and pissed off. You're almost like a normal person now."
"Almost," Blake emphasized with a smirk.

The tension in Bailey's group was thick enough to spread on toast. Barely anyone dared to breathe, let alone speak. The only sounds were the rhythmic squeak of their shoes against the polished hallway and the distant beep of a monitor somewhere down the hallway. Meredith and Cristina huddled together, their voices frantic whispers. Blake and Alex, on the other hand, seemed oblivious to the frosty air. Every few moments, their eyes would lock, a silent conversation passing between them that only fueled Izzie's silent fury. Her jaw clenched so tightly her teeth threatened to shatter, and a string of muttered insults, laced with venom, escaped her lips.
