The air in Chief Webber's office hung heavy with unspoken lies

The air in Chief Webber's office hung heavy with unspoken lies. All of Baileys' interns, excluding Blake, stood awkwardly before the Chief. Izzie broke the tense silence first.

"I cut the LVAD wire," she blurted, her voice tight with anxiety.

"Actually, I cut the LVAD wire," Meredith said, their prearranged plan falling into place. They'd agreed before entering the lion's den that nobody would take the fall alone. Alex and Cristina, however, had been less than enthusiastic about the sacrifice. After all, they'd been the ones pushing to turn Izzie in if they could.

"No," George piped up, "I did it. I'm the one who cut the wire."

Cristina remained silent. A sharp nudge from George in her side finally spurred her to speak. "Fine," she muttered, glaring at him before reluctantly confessing. "I cut the LVAD wire."

Alex took a different approach. "I didn't do anything. I'm totally innocent," he interjected, a defiant glint in his eyes. The others shot him a withering look. "I wasn't even here!" He continued in a rush. "He knows I wasn't here. You think he doesn't know that? The guy's not mentally challenged."

"That's not the point. What about loyalty?" Meredith snapped.

"We made an agreement," George chimed in.

They all started arguing and yelling at each other. Fingers were pointed, justifications were thrown, and the air crackled with nervous energy. The Chief slammed his hands against the desk for silence.

"People!" He roared. "I know who did this. So, you might as well come clean. I know," he declared, his voice heavy with authority. But despite his booming pronouncements, a flicker of uncertainty flashed in his eyes. He lacked the concrete evident to pin the act on any one of them.
