chapter three
what i amBlake pushed open the door to the locker room, only to be greeted by the sight of Meredith gulping down Pepto-Bismol, her face contorted in a look of disgust that mirrored Blake's own aversion to the chalky pink medicine.
"Are you okay?" She questioned with concern.
Meredith slammed the bottle down on the bench with a grimace. "Um, yeah," she sighed. "Are you?"
"I'm always okay," Blake replied.
Just then, George entered the locker room, his brow furrowing as he took in Meredith's pale complexion. "Are you okay?" He asked.
"Just peachy," Meredith mumbled, waving him off dismissively.
Blake wasn't buying it. "Seriously, Mer," she pressed. "You look like you're about to fall over."
Meredith sighed, her shoulders slumping in defeat. "I'm just not feeling like myself."
Her words elicited a snort of laughter from Alex, who was just closing his locker. "O'Malley has that effect on women," he snickered, his gaze flickering between Meredith and George. "Ask Dr. Torres."
George's cheeks flushed a rosy pink. "What's that supposed to mean?" He demanded, his voice laced with indignation.
Alex shrugged, a smirk playing on his lips. "Dude, you threw her out on her ass," he stated bluntly.
"Yeah, that was a pretty low blow," Blake chimed in, her voice sharp with disapproval.
"Who told you that, Alex?" George asked.
"Torres," Alex replied with a shrug. "Don't worry, I get it. She's hot but she's not for you."
"Why's that?" George persisted. A part of him hoped that Alex would understand, that his decision hadn't been completely wrong.
"'Cause she's hot."
At that, Blake's lips pulled into a tight line and she smacked Alex on the chest with the back of her hand. "Okay, not I'm offended."
"Sorry, Blake," he apologized but the amusement still twinkled in his eyes.
As the interns left the locker room, they followed Bailey through the halls. "Let's go people. I've been in surgery since two a.m, I'm in no mood," she said, leading her interns to a patient's room.
As they walked, Cristina materialized beside Meredith. "Yang, you're late," Alex yelled in hopes she would be reprimanded.
"Hey, I got here before George!" Cristina retorted.
"I'm here, I was here," George mumbled defensively.
"Nice of you to join, Yang," Bailey sarcastically said, making Alex smile.
"Oh, what are you smiling about?" Cristina scoffed once she saw the look on Alex's face. "Aren't you supposed to be in the gynie brigade?"
"Yeah, whatever," Alex scoffed.
