"Office of Mrs. Morelli, you are speaking with Kim. How may I help you?" Yulia heard the woman saying at the other end of the line. She took a deep breath before speaking, her nerves getting the best of her.

"He-hello, I am Yulia Romanov. Mrs. Morelli had given me her card regarding an event and said she would need a pas-pastry chef," Yulia managed to get out, her voice trembling slightly. The woman on the other end asked her to hold on a minute while she double-checked her notes.

Yulia's heart pounded in her chest as she listened to the faint sounds of shuffling papers. The room felt stifling, and she could hear the ticking of the clock on her kitchen wall. It was almost 2 pm. She glanced around her small, cozy apartment, seeking some distraction to calm her nerves. The sunlight streaming through the window cast a warm glow on her collection of baking utensils and recipe books.

"Right! I do have your name here, but there are also others listed. We will be doing a taste testing this afternoon at 6. Would that work for you?" Kim asked.

Yulia stuttered, "Yes, yes, that works. What pastries should I bring, and how many? Also, who will be tasting them?"

Kim responded, "It will be a small team-building event for one of our departments, and there are about 30 people. With that information, you should be able to manage the quantity."

Yulia nodded, momentarily forgetting that Kim couldn't see her. "Oh, yes, I can work with that."

"Great! The different pastries are really up to you. You are free to decide what you would like to present," Kim said.

Yulia muttered a small, "Okay," hoping they had already decided on specific items to make her task easier. She bit her lip nervously as Kim explained the details of getting there, where she should enter, and offered to arrange a driver to make it easier for her. Yulia quickly agreed, relieved to avoid the hassle of public transport or an Uber with multiple pastry boxes.

"Wonderful, I will see you at 6. Have a good day!" Kim hung up, leaving Yulia to ponder what she could possibly make in the next four hours that would impress enough to secure her a spot at the event.

She walked around her small apartment, trying to find inspiration. Her eyes landed on the card of Mrs Morelli and thought of the pavlova's she made last week, recalling how Mrs. Morelli had come back for more. Decision made, she included pavlovas on her list. Next, she decided on lemon mousse cups, which were always a hit.

As she started on the pavlova, she also decided to make a one-meter braided bread, quickly preparing the dough so it would have time to rise and bake. With some puff pastry dough already in her fridge, she opted to make a variety of puff pastries as well. Her mind raced with ideas as she added macaroons, petit fours, eclairs, and a bonbon cake to her list. Determined to impress with her creations, Yulia immersed herself in her work, the kitchen soon filling with the comforting scents of baking. Her nervousness slowly gave way to focused determination, each task bringing her closer to the perfect assortment for the taste testing.
