As they stepped back inside, Yulia noticed that Blair was already there, efficiently setting up her supplies on the coffee table. The usual clinical setup made Yulia feel slightly anxious, though she tried to brush it off. Aline and Alice had taken the day off since the guys were attending some exclusive ball tonight and wouldn't be back until late.
They hadn't asked Yulia to go with them, and honestly, she wasn't bothered by it. Formal events and dressing up weren't really her thing. The thought of mingling with wealthy strangers in a fancy gown sounded exhausting, and she was more than happy to sit this one out, but maybe one day.
Yulia sat down on the couch, watching as Blair knelt in front of her, carefully beginning the process of removing the bandages from her hands. The air felt cooler against her skin as the layers of gauze were peeled away, revealing her healing burns.
"It should be fully healed in no time," Blair said with a reassuring smile, her hands gentle as she worked. Yulia returned the smile, though her mind wandered briefly to the twins' earlier remarks. Despite their suspicions, Blair had always been professional around her, focusing solely on her care.
As Blair cleaned her hands, she made small talk, her voice calm and steady. "You've been really diligent with the care instructions. I can tell. You should be back to normal very soon."
Yulia nodded. "I've had a lot of help," she replied, glancing toward the door, half-expecting to see one of the twins pop in with another comment about Blair, even though they were off today. The guys were always quick to check in on her, too, Matteo in particular, making sure she was comfortable at all times.
Blair continued her work, her movements precise as she applied fresh ointment to Yulia's hands. "Once these are fully healed, you'll want to take it easy at first," she said, her tone light. "You don't want to rush back into things too quickly."
"I'll try," Yulia said with a small smile. Not like I have much else to do right now, she thought. The kitchen was being handled by Aline and Alice, the guys were always busy with something, and Alessandro was still in Italy. The thought of him being away left a hollow ache in her chest, though she tried not to dwell on it too much. She missed him more than she expected.
Blair wrapped up her work, patting Yulia's hands lightly. "All done for today. Keep taking care of them, and they'll be back to normal in no time."
"Thanks," Yulia said, her voice soft as she flexed her fingers slightly, feeling a slight twinge but not the sharp pain she remembered from before. Healing, slowly but surely.
As Blair packed up her things, Yulia leaned back into the couch, her mind wandering again to the ball the guys were attending tonight. She couldn't help but wonder what it would've been like to go with them—not that she wanted to, but the idea of being part of that world still felt strange to her. Would she ever really belong there? Or was she always going to be the outsider, the one left behind?
