BONDITA

I was shaking... I felt that. Tears were coming through my eyes as I wiped them fast. I didn't turn back. I wanted to, but I didn't—I couldn't. After so long, I was in his arms, his lips touched mine, and I felt like I was in heaven, but this isn't right! All of this is very wrong for God's sake! I can't do this.

I entered the college, there was AC all over, but I was feeling so hot... My body was at a high temperature, and I was even sweating at the moment. I still felt his lips on mine... The way he kissed me was still on my mind. My lips were slightly hurting just because of how hard he had kissed me.

As I entered the classroom, I saw Mini talking to Batuk. I slowly went and sat at a desk as Mini came and sat with me. I didn't say a word but just gave her a smile. She looked at me, confused, and asked, "What happened to your lips? I mean, it's kind of red, and you didn't put on lipstick!"

A shiver ran down my spine. I knew this was because of the hard kiss, but I couldn’t tell her, so I lied, "I have been biting my lips," I said with an awkward chuckle.

Before Mini could reply, a professor came to teach us as the classes started. I was missing Anirudh... I really did. He was not teaching at the college anymore, but it pained me not having him here. I understood him more than anyone else...

I sat through the lecture, my mind drifting back to Anirudh. The way his eyes had softened when he looked at me, the desperation in his voice when he asked me to stay—every detail was etched in my memory. I absentmindedly touched my lips, still tingling from the intensity of his kiss. It felt so right, yet everything about our situation was so wrong.

Mini nudged me, bringing me back to reality. "Bondita, you seem out of it. What's going on?" she whispered.

I forced a smile. "Just tired, I guess. Didn't sleep well last night."

She frowned but didn't press further, turning her attention back to the professor. I appreciated her concern, but I couldn't share the turmoil inside me with her. Anirudh's world was dangerous, and dragging her into it would only put her at risk.

As the lecture continued, my thoughts wandered to the events that had led us here. Anirudh's father, his machinations, and the forced engagement with Tulika—everything seemed like a twisted game. And in the middle of it all, Anirudh and I were struggling to find our way back to each other. The bell rang, signaling the end of the class.

The bell rang, signaling the end of the class. It was a free period, and I wanted some time alone. The sound of the bell echoed in my ears, grating on my nerves. I glared at Mini and said, "Mini... Yaar, I'm going to have some fresh air."

Mini looked at me, confused. "Wait, I'll come too."

I shook my head. "No, no. You talk with Batuk. I'm just going towards the library. You'll be bored, so stay." I knew she hated reading, and I didn’t want to trouble her. "I'll be fine. I just wanted to read something."

Mini nodded in understanding, and I smiled before heading towards the library. The door was open, though mostly no one used it. I stepped inside, noticing how quiet it was. It was a big library, and today it seemed completely deserted. Maybe the door was just left open by mistake. I closed it behind me, trying to block out the irritating noises from outside.

I wandered through the book sections, searching for something to read. I stopped near the historical books and picked one out. As I moved to sit down, I realized the entire library was dark except for a single dim light at a large table. It was oddly relaxing, offering a moment of solitude I desperately needed.
