Okay. As it turns out, our living accommodation is a 20 minute walk away from the community center. And because of that all we were given is a handful of measly directions on how to get there. The woman literally just said, "Take an immediate left, then the first right, once you pass a pink bench take another left, and then another left and continue straight, you'll find your living accommodation there."
The fudge?
Lucky for me, I have my own fully functioning compass right here. Good ol' Raphael. Who knew he'd be this useful.
"So, Raphael, are we almost there?" I ask, an expected look pasted on my face. Raphael looks left and right, then scratches his head lightly and looks left and right again. Hmmm?
"Hehe, you're gonna find this funny." He says in a nervous voice, followed by a nervous chuckle. My heart rate starts increasing slowly while my panic levels rise.
"Find what funny Raphael? I don't understand, please explain the joke to me because clearly I don't get it. The only thing I do get is that you scratched your head and people don't just scratch their heads like that. That was a confused, 'I don't know what's going on' scratch." I say accusingly.
Raphael throws his hands up and raises both eyebrows at me. "Well of course I'm going to be confused, did you hear those instructions? Pink bench, take a right and then another right? What does that even mean?." He says. "And we're a team, meaning that you're also at fault in some unexplainable way." He says triumphantly
I'm about to throw hands when his words fully click in my mind. "Wait. Did you just say we take a right after the pink bench and then another right?" I ask, hopelessness filling my chest.
Raphael blinks and nods his head. My eyes widen and the hopelessness increases. "Do you mean to tell me that we took a right after the pink bench and another right?" I ask. Raphael nods again.
At this point my body is practically drenched in hopelessness. I start pacing the walk way, a spark of panic filling me. "It's okay, we can fix this. I mean, sure it's dark and the street lights are our only source of light and anything could attack us right now but it's all good. We just have to retrace our steps and replace the rights with lefts, right? Right Raphael?" I look up from my panicked pacing and find Raphael silently laughing his butt off, tears streaming down his face.
"Relax dolphin, I was just joking. We're on the right track and to make matters better, our place is right over there." He wipes his tears off, a smile still plastered on stupid face while he points at something behind me.
I don't look at it, and instead focus all my attention on the person before me. The person who will die at my hands. "Raphael..." I say in a dark tone. He looks at me and smiles warily. "You're a dead man walking!" I shout before taking off in a sprint after him.
He lets out a laugh and takes off towards the house. "Catch me if you can dolphin! You forget that fish don't do well on land!" He shouts while nearing the entrance of the house. I continue my sprint, determined to strangle him even if it might take me ten years to catch him, because yeah I'm not the best runner.
