Iroh couldn't deny her words, feeling a hint of guilt at the truth behind them. Even in his drunken state, his mind seemed to be plagued by thoughts and worries.
He huffed, trying to dismiss her comment. "Fine, maybe I do worry sometimes. But that doesn't mean I'm not carefree." He muttered, trying to salvage his pride.
"Just be drunk for now. Have a good time, I guess. I'm not sure."
Iroh found himself chuckling softly, her words causing him to relax a bit more. She had an odd way of soothing him, her bluntness and honesty a refreshing change from the formalities and pretenses he was used to.
"Yeah, maybe you've got a point." He muttered, feeling the alcohol continuing to take effect. "I'll try to enjoy myself as best as I can, I guess. I just hope I don't make a fool of myself in the process."
"If it gives you any comfort, my opinion of you could not be any lower. So feel free."
Iroh couldn't help but bark out a laugh at her words, feeling a flicker of appreciation for her blunt honesty. "Well, I appreciate the reassurance," He replied wryly, his tone infused with a touch of sarcasm.
She laughed at his drunken laugh and shook her head. "I stand corrected, that laugh is awful, you're in the negatives now." She shook her head and laughed.
Iroh groaned softly, feigning annoyance as he playfully glared at her. "Come on, you can't blame me for my laugh!" He protested weakly, trying and failing to sound offended. "I'm in no state to regulate my laugh right now!"
"No it's good, it's finally something genuine." She hummed.
Iroh felt a wave of warmth wash over him at her words, touched by her observation of his genuine laughter. In all honesty, he couldn't remember the last time he had been so relaxed and carefree.
He hummed softly, feeling his heart fluttering in his chest as he continued to lean on her for support. "Yeah, I guess you're right. This is the first time in a long time I don't seem to be worried about anything." He admitted softly.
"It's good. You're not some robot anymore, your a person. A person with a horrible drunk laugh, but a person no less." She made him and herself laugh before she finished her sentence. "I have to say, I never thought I'd enjoy talking to you this much."
He hummed softly, feeling a flicker of embarrassment at her compliment. "Likewise," He admitted softly, his words filled with a hint of honesty. "It's... refreshing."
"It just sucks that tomorrow morning you probably won't remember this and I'll go back to disliking you."
Iroh groaned softly at her words, feeling a wave of disappointment wash over him. She was right, in all likelihood, he would wake up the next morning with a hangover and only hazy memories of the night before. The thought that he might forget his current contentment with her saddened him.
He muttered softly, his words tinged with bitterness. "Yeah, I suppose you're right..."
"We're here." She hummed, as they approached the apartment building. They walked in and she helped him up the stairs when they got to her apartment. She reached into her bra and pulled out her keys, unlocking the door.
Iroh stumbled after her, feeling a pang of embarrassment at the way he was leaning on her support. As she found her keys in her bra, he found himself distracted by the way her fingers moved, the way her body curved. He felt a flutter of desire in his stomach, but he quickly pushed it aside.
He shook his head slightly, trying to focus on the task at hand as they headed into the apartment.
She opens the door and he walked it the apartment. It was relatively clean and put together, but it didn't have that much furniture. There were some bills on the counter and pictures of her and a little boy, who he assumed to be her brother. It was warm and welcoming, despite the lack of utilities. There was a couch, a table, the small kitchenette, and a bedroom. She threw her keys on her counter and sighed. "You can sleep on the couch. I'm going to check on Niko, stay here."
