Aria stepped aside, allowing him to walk inside.

He hesitantly entered, being as quiet as possible as he closed the door behind him. He took a glance at the hallway to make sure he could see Niko's light coming from his room. He was fast asleep by now.

Iroh looked around and saw her fire escape through a large window. A smile fell on his lips and he walked towards it.

"I've always wanted to go on a fire escape."

Aria raised an eyebrow. "You've never been on one before?"

"Nope." Iroh said simply, already going over to the window.

He carefully slid it open, the cold night air pouring in. He stepped out, placing his feet right onto the metal escape.

Aria couldn't help but smile and she followed him out, she sat on the cold metal and dangled her legs off the side.

Iroh sat down next to her.

His heart was beating unusually fast, being up this high with her, sitting out on an old fire escape together.

The city lights glittered below them and an oddly comforting silence surrounded them.

"The palace definitely doesn't have any of these."

Aria heard these words and raised an eyebrow, a smirk gracing her lips. "Iroh, I get your rich, but referring to your house as a palace is a little much, even for you."

That's right.
She didn't know he was a prince.

Iroh cursed in his head, realizing she didn't know that.

He glanced over at her for a moment, seeing the smirk on her face.

He was silent for a moment, mulling over wether he should tell her or not. Then again, she was probably bound to find out about it soon anyway.

He sighed, resigning himself. "Well... actually..."

Iroh paused for a moment, wondering how he was even going to tell her.

She had gotten a cigarette from the corner of the fire escape, putting it in between her lips.

Just get it over with.

"I'm the prince of the Fire Nation." He mumbled, waiting for her to react. "Fire Lord Izumi is my mother."

When she heard those words, she froze, the cigarette unlit and sitting inbetween her lips.

The smile stayed on her face, yet the longer she looked into his genuine eyes, her smile dropped.

He was being serious, wasn't he?

Iroh looked over at her, watching the way she froze. Her expression was one of pure shock and she sat still.

He felt slightly amused at the look on her face and he let out a small huff.

It was nice to render her speechless for once.

He created a small flick of a flame with his fingers and placed it underneath her cigarette, lighting it. Her face illuminating with the red embers cracking.

"Care to spare one?" He asked her.

She was still in shock when he lit her cigarette for her, flinching slightly when he spoke.

Aria took a drag, the tobacco filling her lungs, before wordlessly reaching into her pocket for her pack. She took out another cigarette and handed it to him.
