13. Valentine's Day

I was just getting up , today was going to be a big day. It was Valentine's Day and the friend group wanted to just kinda hangout downtown, spend some time together.

After this, Me and Val had a sleepover planned, this would give us time to hangout just us two, and have some time to just spend with each other in one another's embrace

I heard a knock at my door. "Come in," I answered, yawning as I sat up

My mom walked through the door, all smiley, more smiley then her usual demeanor

"I brought you a little something," she held out some Kit Kats, and a few new clips I had been wanting

"Mom, omg!" I said before throwing my arms around her as I have her the biggest hug ever

She chuckled, and I could feel her smile as she pulled away. "I love you too hunny, happy Valentine's Day,"

She smiled, kissing my forehead before she walked out

I went to the bathroom to wash my face, grabbing some clothes to put on and tying my hair up into my usual ponytail

I didn't want to go all out for Valentines this year, usually just because my mom does for every other holiday, and today wasn't usually my favorite one of the year too

So doing something simple was totally fine for me, and I was okay with it

I walked downstairs the stairs, smelling a sweet aroma as I had entered the kitchen to figure out what that pleasant smell was

"Oh! I tried out a new recipe and made some pumpkin, cinnamon pancakes," my mom replied "their in the shape of a heart, and we have some whipped cream and choice of cherries or red sprinkles"

"This looks so good!" I replied as I began to dig in, devouring almost everything in my plate as if it was going to leave at any second

I could tell my mom was a little concerned at my behavior, but she didn't really point anything out so I took it as a 'I think I'm in the clear' type of situation

"This is the address, right?" She asked as we pulled into the driveway of a huge house

"I'm pretty sure," I replied

"Her house is gorgeous," my mom pointed out

"Okay, bye mom" I got out of the car, grabbing my stuff out of the back

"Have a great time with your friends!" She pulled out of the driveway, waving as I turned around to knock on her door

"This place is huge!" I said to myself, stepping up to the porch

I then rung the doorbell, seeing one in sight. I saw a figure before the door swung open.

I looked down, seeing a little girl with dark curly hair, and brown eyes. She was so cute she looked just like Val.

"Who are you?" She looked at me with confusion painted on her features

"Oh hi! I'm Riley, Val's friend." I replied "I love your hair by the way, its so pretty I wish I could have curls like that"

She smiled at me, she was so precious. "Thank you, I love your hair too!" She giggled

She then stared at my necklace, a curious look taking over. "What's that?" She asked
