The Profound Virtue of  in Tahajjud Prayer

Today, we explore the profound virtue of reciting Surat Al-Ikhlas during Tahajjud prayer, as highlighted in a powerful hadith narrated by Abu Said Al-Khudri رضي الله عنه:

Narrated By Abu Said Al-Khudri رضي الله عنه:

"A man heard another man reciting (Surat-Al-Ikhlas) ‘Say He is Allah, (the) One.’ (112. 1) repeatedly. The next morning, he came to the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and informed him about it as if he thought that it was not enough to recite. On that the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said, 'By Him in Whose Hand my life is, this Surah is equal to one-third of the Qur’an!'"

(Sahih Al Bukhari, Hadith Number 5013)

Benefits from the Hadith:

1. The Essence of Tawhid (Oneness of Allah): Surat Al-Ikhlas encapsulates the essence of Tawhid, declaring Allah's سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ unity and uniqueness without any partners. Its recitation is rewarded immensely due to its profound meaning and significance.

2. Prophet's Confirmation: Despite the man's initial doubt, the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ affirms the great reward and virtue of reciting Surat Al-Ikhlas. This emphasizes that the recitation of this Surah alone in Tahajjud prayer is highly esteemed and carries immense spiritual merit.

3. Virtue of Selected Surahs: This hadith underscores that certain Surahs of the Quran hold special virtues over others. Surat Al-Ikhlas, by its succinct declaration of monotheism, holds a position of honor and reward equal to reciting one-third of the entire Quran.

Let us take inspiration from this hadith and incorporate the recitation of Surat Al-Ikhlas into our Tahajjud prayers. May Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ bless us with the understanding and steadfastness to perform Tahajjud regularly and reap its manifold rewards.

P.S. Share this hadith with friends and family to inspire them on their journey of spiritual enrichment through Tahajjud prayer.
