Today, I am thrilled to share a profound tradition from the life of our beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, emphasizing the importance of virtuous conduct and the practice of night prayers:
Abdullah ibn Salaam رضي الله عنه reported that upon the arrival of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ in Medina, he addressed the people with words of wisdom and guidance. Among his first instructions were: “O people, spread peace, feed the hungry, preserve and keep the ties of kinship and pray at night when people are sleeping. You will enter Paradise in peace.” (Sunan Ibn Majah, Hadith Number 2648)
Here are some valuable insights from this profound hadith:
1. Embrace Virtuous Conduct: The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, as a mercy to humanity, exemplified and encouraged virtuous behavior. By spreading peace, feeding the hungry, and maintaining family ties, we emulate his noble character and contribute to the betterment of society.
2. Spread Peace and Love: The simple act of spreading peace through the Islamic greeting of Salaam fosters love and unity within the Muslim community. By exchanging greetings of peace, we build bonds of brotherhood and sisterhood, fostering a harmonious environment.
3. Practice Night Prayers: The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ advised us to engage in night prayers, a sacred time when the world sleeps and hearts are attentive to the Divine. Through Tahajjud prayers, we draw closer to Allah SWT, seeking His forgiveness, guidance, and blessings.
May Allah SWT grant us the strength to embody virtuous conduct, spread peace and love, and establish the practice of night prayers in our lives. May He grant us entry into Paradise in peace, enveloped in His mercy and blessings.
JazakAllah Khair,
