"Conner, What are the names of the "Big Three" of the Greek gods?" Mr. Carter's paces in front of a class full of bored and drooling teenagers.
The boy he called on has hair dyed pink on the edges of light brown and icy blue eyes. He's leaning back in his chair with his feet propped up on the desk. "Zeus, Neptune, and Hades."
"It's Poseidon actually." A girl sitting next to him smirks as the teacher confirms her answer. Her hair is long and dark brown much like her chocolate eyes. Her arms are crossed and she's chewing some gum with her mouth open.
"Very good, Vanessa. Now, I want everyone to take out a piece of paper and write a short three paragraph essay on their favorite Greek God and why." Half of the class groans but obliges and pulls out their own paper.
It could be a lot worse to be honest. At least they get to learn about Greek Mythology and not algebra or something. Everyone fills out their papers and by the time the bell rings they've all finished.
"Who did you write about, Conner?" A boy with dark yet light skin and hair colored black walks up to Connor with a paper in his hand. The brunette grabs the sheet of paper off Conner's desk and begins reading it out loud.
"The Greek God of Procreation." He bursts out laughing and shows the paper to a group of other boys that have formed around Conner. "Seriously? I thought you'd maybe pick someone cool. I mean, why that guy?"
Conner stands up from his desk and shoves a notebook into his backpack on the ground. "Eros is one of the Primordials. There's only five main Primordials, and you should know this if you paid attention in class; Nyx, Eros, Gaia, Erebus, and Chaos."
One of the boys next to Conner makes a swirl next to his ear and points at Conner, "Sure Mr. Know it all."
"It's not like you picked anyone better, Luke." A girl walks up behind the boy and snatches his paper out of his hands. Her hair is a dark brown that looks almost black, and there's a white strand in her bangs that cover her forehead.
"Hey! Don't touch that, Kayea!" Luke shouts and reaches for the paper. His cheeks burning a slight red tint, the color being more vibrant on his darker skin.
"Let's see.." She smiles and pulls the paper further away from the taller boy, "Ooooh, Aphrodite." A few of the boys all laugh, "I wonder why you would pick the goddess of Love herself." His face grows even redder, "I'm sure it's not her wonderful personality."
Luke snatches the paper out of Kayea's hand and turns away in embarrassment. "Yeah? And who did you pick, Kayea?" Conner turns to look at Kayea's paper, his bag now slung over his shoulder.
Conner towers over Kayea, much like the other guys do, even though she's fairly tall for her age. A whopping five foot seven and a half. Yes, and a half is very necessary. He grabs the paper with ease, the boys all peaking over his shoulder to read it.
"None of the gods?" Conner raises a brow. The shorter female just shrugs and snatches the paper out of his hands.
"I've yet to find a god worthy of my favoritism." The group walks to the front of the class and everyone places their papers on the teacher's desk.
"Awfully picky." She shrugs again. The group makes their way out of the classroom but before Kayea can make it to her locker a voice stops her. It's Conner, "We have a party thing happening later tonight. You wanna come?"
Kayea Rykers? At a party? Let's get one thing straight- Kayea is NOT a party person, nor a popular one at that. Conner and his friends very much so are, regardless of his geek habits.
So believe me the shock is real when he offers a kind smile and a warm hand. Conner is nice and all but his girlfriend is a real piece of work. It wouldn't surprise her if that woman was setting her up for yet another embarrassing prank.
